HAPPY NEW YEAR!!
May the moose ne'er lea' yer girnal wi a tear-drap in its ee.
May ye aye keep hail an hertie till ye'r auld eneuch tae dee.
May ye aye juist be sae happie as A wuss ye aye tae be.
A wee scottish saying to wish you all the best in the New Year. Here's the translation if you need it -
May the best you have ever seen be the worst you will ever see.
May the mouse never leave your grain store with a tear drop in its eye.
May you always stay hale and hearty until you are old enough to die.
May you still be as happy as I always wish you to be.
May the mouse never leave your grain store with a tear drop in its eye.
May you always stay hale and hearty until you are old enough to die.
May you still be as happy as I always wish you to be.
Now onto explain "Aff the Tree". A very good friend of mine explained one of her family Christmas traditions. Each year they receive a small gift from off the tree or rather "Aff" the Tree. Over the years this has just become another small gift from under one families tree to another. However I presume that originally it was a gift that was actually on the tree. So this year I made my own Aff the tree gifts for everyone. Each was labelled with the recipients name and said from The Tree but they knew it was me!
Here's a close up -
Each one was decorated differently. I used the Petal Cone Bigz Die which was really easy to put together. I used some Jolly Holiday Designer Series Paper round the top of the cones. Then added a topper to the fronts. The rosette is made by using the Lace Border Punch and wrapping it round to make a circle.
You can fill these with quite a lot. I put a couple of mini sweeties in each and a little gift particular to each person. Everyone enjoyed them so much I may have just started a new family tradition of a gift from the tree!
You could make these too and delight your family. They are so easy and make great decorations or table favours.
So that just leaves me to say
Lang may yer lum reek!
Thanks for visiting and I wish you all the best for 2012. x

I love this 'gift on the tree' idea too Aileen :) It's one step up from hanging chocolate on the branches!
