Bordering on Romance in Rose Red

Hi Crafty Peeps!  Hope you are having a lovely weekend.  I've found some time in between trying to tidy my craft space to make a card for Less is More which this week has a sketch to follow.  See below.

I had a picture in my head of using ruffled ribbon so reached for my Rose Red Seam Binding.  I chose a Rose Red card base and a dramatic mat of Basic Black.  I wanted to use a Ribbon Slide (retired) but with bling added to the middle so attached 3 Basic Rhinestones.  Thankfully they come in a strip so wasn't difficult to attach to the centre post.  I stamped the flowers from Bordering on Romance in Basic Black and used a Blender Pen to colour it in with Rose Red, Certainly Celery and Regal Rose.  I added a touch of Frost White Shimmer Paint to the flowers for a touch of sparkle.  The sentiment from Teeny Tiny Wishes is stamped in Rose Red.

Now to ruffle the ribbon I pulled a thread from the middle, (actually I pulled several because I kept pulling them all the way through!)  Doh!!  How to stop it unruffling was the next challenge.  I tried singeing the end but only succeeded in setting the ribbon on fire!  So in the end I've tucked the ribbon behind the panel stuck down with Red Sticky Strip.  My husband came in and wondered what on earth I'd been doing with the matches!!

I'm off to rid the house of a burning smell now.  Keep crafting but stay safe!  (Don't play with matches!!) x

Sycamore Street Perfectly Preserved

Do you still have some of the fabby Sycamore Street (Sale-A-Bration) paper left?  I still have a few sheets and decided to break them out for this card.  Love the fresh colours.

The design comes from this week's sketch at Freshly Made Sketches.  You can see the sketch below.

With Stampin' Up! designer papers you can be bright and jazzy or calm and soft.  All depends on your mood!  I've gone soft with a Sahara Sand card base.  A mat of Whisper White for the designer paper keeps it soft.  I added Crochet Trim Ribbon before attaching my Pool Party panels, one with matching designer paper and the other with Whisper White.  I stamped 3 flower heads in Island Indigo from Perfectly Preserved (retired) and added the Just for You sentiment along the bottom also from this set.  Have you spotted these super paper clips from the Spring/Summer catty?  This cute heart is from the Elements Cute Clips.  To finish off I added a white button from the Neutrals Buttons set and tied a bow of Pool Party Bakers Twine

We were in to see Robert Downey Jnr last night.  Not in person unfortunately but at the cinema in Iron Man.  Super.  Love his films.

Hope you are having a fun weekend.  Stay crafty. x

Mixed Bunch All Dressed Up

I spotted the challenge at Runway Inspired this week and wanted to join in.  See photo below.

I've used Mixed Bunch to create a floral pattern.  I added some leaves from the Bird Builder Punch.  The smaller flowers are punched out with 1" Circle Punch popped up on Dimensionals.  I added the sentiment from Teeny Tiny Wishes in Real Red.

Mixed Bunch is a lovely set of stamps which make it so easy to create stunning designs.  One of the many reasons that attracted me to Stampin' Up!  If you love Stampin' Up! also, you may consider joining as a hobby demo or more.  Now until the 30th May you receive an extra £25 in products in your starter kit.  So this is a great time to join.  I would love you on my team!

Thanks for your visit.  x

Best Wishes at the Comfort Cafe

How are you today?  I'm sharing a card for this month's card swap group.  This one should hopefully be with Victoria.  We were given an extra challenge this month to include some patterned paper.

I followed the sketch at Retro Sketches this week for my card.  You can see the sketch at the bottom of my post.

I've used a Midnight Muse card base and added a panel of the gorgeous Comfort Cafe Designer Series Paper.  My top panel is Summer Starfruit with a punched circle of Very Vanilla.  I stamped Best Wishes from Petite Pairs in Cajun Craze and added a circle from Circle Circus in Pool Party.  Some Pool Party Baker's Twine finishes it off.

Hope you enjoy the rest of your day.  Thanks for visiting me.  x

Speeding in with Need For Speed

Speeding in with a card for a couple of challenges just before bed time!

Firstly Dynamic Duos this week is looking for Basic Black and Basic Grey with a dessert option of masculine.

Secondly CASe This Sketch

I'm enjoying using Need for Speed especially for masculine cards.  It's been on my wish list for awhile and I'm so happy I finally got it.  I've kept my card very simple in keeping with the sketch.  I stamped the speedboat in Basic Black then sponged some waves with Basic Grey and Sahara Sand.  I stamped my sentiment in Basic Black from Petite Pairs.  The Whisper White panel was attached to a Basic Black mat then onto a Sahara Sand card base.

That's it from me tonight, my beddy beckons.  Hope you've had a good evening.  x

Mixed Bunch at Less is More

Well survived the bows and arrows (see previous post).  It was lots of fun, kids did really well.  Ross especially, he got 4 golds and one right in the centre.  He's really taken to it.  Holly got one gold.  As beginners we weren't shooting the full range distance but they still did pretty well.  Yeh I know you are dying to ask what did Mum get? Well ever heard the saying "couldn't hit a barn door!"  Ok not quite as bad as that, I did hit the blue (it goes gold, red, blue, black, white).  My arrows saw a lot of white! Oh and some straw and the floor.......

Anyhoos lets talk about my card.  This is for Less is More which has an interesting challenge this week.  You can either CASe Jen's card or Chrissie's or a mix of both.  Both are great.  I've gone with Jen's card because I recently made a card using the technique on Chrissie's. You can see Jen's below.

I loved the Crumb Cake and Pool Party together but as I wanted to colour the petals on my flower and don't have a Pool Party marker I made my card with Baja Breeze.  I embossed my Mixed Bunch flower in White Embossing Powder then punched out with the Blossom Punch.  Added a silver brad to the middle.  Instead of piercing I used my White Gel Pen to add some faux stitching around the edge of the Crumb Cake panel.  The ribbon banner is Pool Party with an Itty Bitty Banner sentiment which is White Embossed.

Thanks for a fun challenge this week ladies!

a-MUSE-d with Stampin' Up!'s Creative Elements

As you can see from my title, my card tonight, is inspired by the MUSE challenge.  Check out the gorgeous inspiration photo below by Marion Vagg.

I've followed the design loosely and picked up on the contrasting colours.  The butterfly is from Creative Elements.  Isn't it gorgeous?  Creative Elements has 8 stamps in the set which you can be.....well...creative with!  Check out the swirl, I've used it here to link my butterflies together.  The card base is Whisper White which is just gorgeous to stamp on.  It was one of the things that first attracted me to Stampin' Up!

I  stamped my sentiment from Curly Cute and popped it up on it's own label.  I liked the addition of the bling so liberally added some Basic Rhinestones.  I would normally put these on the butterflies but it was a nice change to have them sprinkled around.

Would you like to receive your products at discount?  Join before end of May and you can have a starter kit with £155 worth of product for only £99.  Remember you can make up your kit your way.

I'm also going to add this in to CASual Fridays who are having a birthday bash this week.

Hope you have a lovely weekend planned.  Kids and I are off to try Archery tomorrow.

Just Believe in Neutrals

Good morning.  Sunny and bright today.  Lovely!

The card I have for you today is for Margaret one of the ladies in my card swap group who has a birthday.  She should have received it by now so safe to post.  I know she likes neutrals so I've gone with that and a little pop of Pink Pirouette.  The stamp set is Just Believe and the butterfly is punched out using Elegant Butterfly Punch.  Some Linen Thread helps the rustic feel and the Basic Rhinestones add a little bling.

Hope you had a lovely day Margaret.

I'm going to pop this into -
Addicted to Stamps and More which has an anything goes week.

Thanks for visiting.  My ironing beckons and I can't ignore it any longer!  Ta Ta For Now.  x

Everything Eleanor New Home

Hi Folks.  A wet day here, best stay in and craft.

I've made a card using a new technique to me.  I have to stay I didn't find this easy and it's not perfect but I'm pleased with it anyway.

I used a Bashful Blue card base with a Whisper White panel stamped with Everything Eleanor in Pumpkin Pie and Bashful Blue.  I stamped a second panel in the same way and to start with tried using my Timeless Type Alphabet Junior Sizzlits (retired) to cut out.  Didn't really work.  All back to front upside down etc.  So I re stamped another scrap.  Then separately cut out the letters in Whisper White then placed over the stamped scrap and re stamped onto the letters.  It means it doesn't match exactly and I'm sure there is a much easier way to do this.

My colour combo was chosen so I could pop this into Dynamic Duos  - Pumpkin Pie and Bashful Blue.

I'm also going to enter CASology this week which has a cue card - Word.  I'd been struggling to think what to do for the new home card that I needed but then I saw this and knew immediately I wanted to try out this technique.

Some news to pass on from Stampin' Up!  A super new promotion which puts more products in your stash!!  Come have a look -

A big Hi to my new follower Ji Hye and to a returning follower The Crafty Laydee.  Thanks for your visit.  Look forward to visiting you too.  x

Summer Silhouette's Beanstalk

Saturday night and the feeling's right!  Just watched Britain's Got Talent, now watching The Voice (taped from earlier) and blogging to all you lovely folks!

We took the children in to see Jack The Giant Slayer this afternoon.  Loved it.  So had to use this film as my inspiration for the Less is More challenge this week which is a one layer.  I've made a beanstalk using the leaves from Summer Silhouette.  I used two markers to colour them for a bit of definition - Lucky Limeade and Always Artichoke.  I also outlined the vine with Sahara Sand.  I masked off the side then sponged with a variety of colours - Lucky Limeade, Certainly Celery, Summer Starfruit, So Saffron, Tempting Turquoise.  I added some little flower heads as I think these look a bit magical in Summer Starfruit.  The card seemed to suit a get well and I chose Sassy Salutations in Sahara Sand.

So if you are poorly just now, Feel Better!

Enjoy the rest of your weekend folks.  x

Need for Speed at the Comfort Cafe

Speeding in with a card for my Brother in Law.  I went to Seize The Birthday for some inspiration from the masculine sketch.  See below for the sketch.

I've started with a Naturals Ivory card base.  The ribbon banner is Midnight Muse embossed with the Chevron Embossing Folder.  Then attached some DSP from Comfort Cafe and a strip of Summer Starfruit.  I die cut a Very Vanilla oval and stamped the car in Midnight Muse.  I also sponged the edges.  Then added a sentiment from For My Family and punched out with Word Window and Modern Label Punches.  The oval is popped up on some Dimensionals.

A quick post from me today.  Hope you are all well and enjoying the holidays.  Thanks for visiting.  x

Chevrons, Flowers and Stampin' Up!'s Aviary Bird Cages

First of all, thank you for all the well wishes for Holly's Birthday.  She's had a super day so far and is currently playing with her new purchase - an i pad which if you read yesterday's post she did a grand job of saving up for herself.  Very easy for Dad and I to put too the difference and get a case for it.

I've really been wanting to play along with the new challenge blog  Fusion.  You can see the details below.  So whilst dot was occupied with her new toy and number one son was ensconced on the x box I snuck away and made this card.

Whisper White card base with Whisper White panel attached with Dimensionals.  I've made my chevrons with the Chevron Embossing Folder and Certainly Celery card stock.  I corner rounded the edges.  I then stamped my bird cages from Aviary in Calypso Coral.  I stamped little flowers inside using Pretty in Pink, Melon Mambo and So saffron.  The little flower comes from Create a Cupcake.  So many useful small items in this set.  I then fussy cut out the cages and attached them with Dimensionals.  The sentiment in Calypso Coral comes from Petite Pairs.

I've picked up on the chevrons from the sketch and the colours and flowers from the inspiration photo.

As we had a big feed at an all you can restaurant at lunch time, I think it will just be cake for tea!  Mmmmm cake.  Not made by me this time as she wanted a Percy Pig cake, so M and S did the honours.

See you next time.  x x

Edit:  Woops just remembered meant to add this in to CASual Fridays which is calling for Chevrons and Flowers.
