Happy Birthday 2 U!

Happy Birthday 2 U!

A one layer card for Less is More using numbers is the challenge this week.  I've used a retired stamp set - Party This Way - for the Happy Birthday.  This set has balloons with numbers on them which I've used loads of times before but decided I'd just go with the funky sentiment.  I stamped stars from Simply Stars but stamped off first.  I then added the 2 U from Outline Alphabet & Numbers and coloured in with Stampin' Write Marker Peach Parfait.  Then it was time to have fun with the rest of the numbers.  Did you spot the deliberate mistake (not)!  I accidentally stamped the 4 in Tangerine Tango so did some more to make a feature of it.  I've now got an aged 4 card!  Hee Hee.

You'll see I've been mixing old sets with new.  It's fun to receive new sets but also not to neglect your old.

I'm pleased to say that I will have a new Virtual Hostess Club starting in October.  I'd love to help you to build up your stash of new goodies.  It's a super way to spread out your wish list and I can help give you some inspiration for your old sets too!  Have a look at the Virtual Hostess Page to see the details of the club or drop me an e mail - ails300@btinternet.com.

We've had a great day today.  I'm loving this weather.  Here's an up to date pic of Jess at the park.

She was a great hit receiving loads of attention.

Speak to you next time. x

Precious Baby Just the Ticket

Another clean and simple baby card for you.  This one was for a 1st birthday for a sweet baby boy.

So easy with a few party balloons from Party This Way and this cute little ticket from That's the Ticket punched out with the co-ordinating punch.

Yesterday was a day of errors.  Hubby had a real bad start to the day when reversing into his parking space at work he broke his back window.  Jess (our puppy) didn't notice that her puppy pad had been lifted so I could hoover and did a pee anyway which I then didn't notice and walked through it!  My daughter who has just had her ears pierced when cleaning them dropped one down the sink.  So Mum to the rescue took off the u bend making sure I had a basin under it.  Yep not so daft!  Found said ear ring and poured the dirty water back into the sink whilst I still had u bend in my hand.  Yep really daft!!!  Only one who didn't have a disaster was my son.

Hope your day goes without calamity!  xx

Scootering along

Another gorgeous sunny day and I think this lovely weather is going to stay with us till the weekend.  Hurray!

My card today follows the sketch at Freshly Made Sketches

As you can see I've flipped it.

I've made a card for a very brave friend who decided to buy a scooter and has just passed her CBT.  Well done, Sandra!

I don't have a scooter stamp but I'm sure she wont mind.  As her new purchase is red and black I've stuck to these colours.  The Motorcycle is embossed in Black Embossing Powder and coloured using my Stampin' Write Marker.  I've also stamped Congratulations from Curly Cute in black.  I added a little L plate and some Glossy Accents to the bike.  This panel was matted onto Real Red.  I then coloured the arrow from Party This Way with my markers, Basic Black and Real Red.  This way I could avoid the word Party.

Have a great day everyone.  Thanks for popping in by. x

Pennant Parade Party

How did it get to the middle of the week already?  There are a few challenges that I'd like to enter but may miss the deadlines.  This one is for Dynamic Duos and I think I'm still in time for it.

The challenge is to use only the two colours - So Saffron and Pool Party but you are allowed neutrals too.

Pennant Parade and Party This Way go so well together.  For my card I created a split panel with edges corner rounded and popped up on Dimensionals.  I stamped my pennants in Pool Party on the top panel.  The middle flag has an insert stamped in So Saffron cut out and paper pieced in the centre.
Between the two panels I've stamped Happy Birthday from Curly Cute in Pool Party.
The bottom panel was repeatedly stamped with the candle and I coloured the flames with my So Saffron Stampin' Write Marker.  Then decided to add a little bling and added some Basic Rhinestones to the flags and one onto one of the candles.  The card base is Pool Party.

So I hope you are seeing a bit of sun today.  We are along with hail stones!  Weird huh!
Have a good day. x

Is it an owl or is it a penguin?

I've changed my little owl from the Owl Builder Punch into a penguin for todays card.  This was easy to do, just take off the ears and feet.  Don't worry he doesn't feel a thing!!

The party penguin has been lifted up and balances on top of one of his friends.  He looks a bit precarious and it's made his eyes go all funny!

So why have I gone all penguin?  Well it's for THE FRIDAY MASHUP which this week is to use a penguin on your card or the spotlighting technique or do both.  I've just gone for the penguins.

To make the penguins I've punched them out of Basic Black, Whisper White and Pumpkin Pie for the beak and feet.  I used Boho Blossoms to punch out a little flower then trimmed them for each foot.

Party boys hat was cut out of Basic Black with some Celebrations Designer Paper (now retired) paper pieced on top.

The background panel was stamped in Bashful Blue on Whisper White using a little snowflake from Pennant Parade.  Then mounted onto Real Red card.  The long panel is just Whisper White on Real Red with a Scallop Edge Border along the bottom.  The card base is Basic Black.

I followed the sketch over at SIMPLY STAMPIN' to make this fun card.  Here's the sketch -

Thanks for dropping in past and a big Hello to Marja I'm delighted you have decided to follow me and hope to see you back often.

Edit:  Ooops missed the Friday Mashup deadline!

Put out the flags it's your Birthday!

A simple bright card today using Party This Way.  I'm back looking at those pesky boy cards and I think I could get away with this one because of the colours.

I stamped my flags in Pacific Point onto Whisper White and paper pieced some retired Designer Paper into the middles.  Then matted onto Pacific Point and the card base is Real Red.  The sentiment is also from Party This Way.  The string is hand drawn using my Basic Black Stampin' Write Marker

Maybe it's not quite teen but I think it would suit a slightly younger boy, what do you think?

This weeks challenge is paper piecing over at CAS-ual Fridays so I'm going to enter this card there.

Fancy building up your stampin' Up! stash?  I have a new Stampers 6 starting in April which is a great way to buy your goodies bit by bit and with a few freebies thrown in too.  If this interest you have a look at the Virtual Hostess page at the top of my blog.  I'd be happy to hear from you!

Hope you are enjoying your mid term break.  Look forward to coming and visiting you to see all your lovely creations. x

Happy Birthday LIM!!

Can't believe it's been a year since I entered into my first challenge blog - LESS IS MORE.  This past year I've learned so many new techniques and improved on my card making mainly due to this challenge blog.  So I'm sending a big thank you to Mandi and Chrissie for their encouragement and comments.  And is it's their 1yr Birthday, my first card is a birthday card.

This weeks challenge is to use the colour AQUA.  I've used Baja Breeze on both my cards today.  As it's been such crisp weather recently and we were expecting snow (didn't come though just some sleet) I used the Baja Breeze to create a crisp sky.

Then thinking about my own big birthday which is not for a few years yet but is unfortunately on the horizon, I decided on some balloons floating away in the sky.  As these have numbers on them, the numbers are also floating away.  After all birthdays are only a number.  Must keep reminding myself of this as it creeps closer!

My next card is for all the lovely friends I've made.

One of my favourite past times is to meet up with friends and go for a coffee.  Doesn't do anything for my waist line but is great for the soul!

I've seen such wonderful cards recently and wanted to try my hand at creating a window.  The row of coffee/tea cups are attached to the card base behind.  I stamped friends and clear embossed it.  I was also thinking of Mandi and Chrissie whilst making this as they do such a wonderful job commenting on all our entries I'm sure they need a cup of tea or perhaps something stronger!

Thanks for popping in past and do have a look round the other entries, they are a very creative bunch. Take care and stay warm. x

Party Parade

Hi quick post tonight.

Another last minute card for my daughter who has a birthday party on Sunday.

For this one I've used Party this Way flags in Real Red, Tempting Turqouise and Daffodil Delight.  The centres were stamped with stamps from Pennant Parade.  I added brads to the corners and looped ribbon as little tags to the top.  The sentiment was stamped from Party this Way.  I mounted the panel onto Real Red card stock before attaching to the Whisper White card base.

I would like to put this card into CAS-ual Fridays which this week is to add ribbon loops but bows don't count.

Also I would like to enter this card into the Friday Mashup which this week is to use brads or autumn or combine both.  For this week I've just used brads.

Come back tomorrow and see the new catalogue which launches on the 1st.  It's so exciting!!

A big welcome to Kasey and Lindsay so nice to see you following!

That's it for today, have a great weekend. x

Two new challenges

Fox and Friends, in the case the little tortoise, has popped in to say Happy Birthday!

My daughter needed a birthday card for a party she's going to this weekend so I decided to try merging two challenges.  New ones for me.

The first is ColourQ where you are to use the following colours -

Don't they look scrummy together?

And the second challenge is Freshly made Sketches which is only in it's second week.  For this challenge you are to follow the sketch in a clean style.  It doesn't have to be square but should be recognisable as the sketch.

So onto my card.  I've used a Tempting Turquoise card base covered with Certainly Celery which has been embossed with Perfect Polka Dots.  My Whisper White panel was stamped with the tortoise from Fox and Friends in Basic Grey adding a little Certainly Celery with my Blender Pen.  I then added a pennant from Party This Way in Poppy Parade.  The Happy Birthday is from this set too and has been punched out with the Word Window Punch then set onto a strip of Poppy Parade card punched with the Scallop Edge Punch. A little Rhinestone Brad finishes off.

The sentiment in the pennant is a sneak preview from the new catalogue, Pennant Parade.  I know not much of  a tease but I might have some more for you in the coming weeks.  Remember the mini catalogue and retiral list are finishing at the end of this month.  You can order items from myself by contacting me on ails300@btinternet.com.

Thanks for coming by today.  x

Boys Party

Quick post today.  Just wanted to share a card I made for my nephews birthday using Party This Way.

I'd been thinking for awhile to use the sign stamp and make a patterned paper panel with it.  I love the way the signs all point off in different directions.  This was mounted onto Pumpkin Pie cards stock and attached to the Pacific Point card base.  Three balloons were stamped in the three colours, cut out and popped onto Dimensionals.

Happy Birthday Balloons

Oh my this is a second post from me today!  Scroll down to see my first one.

This card was inspired by the sketch at the CAS-ual Fridays challenge blog.  This week they have given us a sketch to follow and for some reason when I saw it I thought of balloons.  Rather a lot of balloons!  Must be a big party or celebration Lol!  Here's the sketch -

I just had to decorate the inside with some more balloons floating away.

Before I tell you all the details of the card, the colours were chosen from  another challenge blog - The Friday Mashup.  I know two challenges with one card, so unusual for me! So here's the rules for this challenge

Make a card using the above colours, make a card for Kids or mash it up and make a card using the colours and for kids.  Fun huh!

So here's the details of my card.  I've used a Tempting Turquoise base.  I then stamped the balloon from the Party This Way stamp set in Real Red, Daffodil Delight and Pacific Point.  Following roughly the curve in the sketch.  I then popped one balloon onto dimensionals.  I made a scalloped border in Daffodil Delight using the Scallop Edge Border punch and attached this to the top.  I added some Daffodil Delight ribbon (this is the ribbon I currently have on as a ribbon share, have a look at the post below) along the border then attached the panel to the card base.

This was such a fun card to make, check out the other entries in the challenges.  There's loads of inspiration.  x

Class Party

Last week was my 10th card class so I decided we would have a theme of bright and cheerful birthday cards.  We made two cards (the second one can be found here).  I suggested that they think of a birthday and put on the appropriate number of candles.  My daughter was invited to a 9th birthday party so I put 9 candles on.  One lady wanted her card for a 13th!!  She managed to put 10 on the front and carried the other 3 into the middle which was very effective.

The Celebrations Designer Series Paper goes really well with this stamp set.  We added a strip of the circles along the bottom to echo the circles on the candles.  The sentiment was punched out using the word punch and popped onto a couple of dimensionals.

As a thank you to my ladies for supporting me I made them a little treat box holding a chocolate bar. Unfortunately I didn't have time to take a picture however I got my inspiration from here and just adapted it to our party theme.

Party this way: Congratulations Card

This card is to say congratulations for passing an exam and as the recipient is an Aberdeen supporter I've gone for the team colours.

I haven't used the flags before from the set so wanted to have a play and made a bunting with them.  They are "hung" along a piece of real red ribbon and the middle flag is popped up to give some dimension.  I stamped congrats in the corner from the basic phrases set and then added the balloons floating up.  The numbers on them are appropriate as the exam involved quite a bit of maths.

I'm glad it's not me sitting exams, although my times tables have vastly improved as first my son and now my daughter are learning them.  It's amazing how quickly we can get rusty at such simple things.

Hope you've had a good week.  Happy crafting x

Party This Way Birthday Card

I originally made this card for my son to give to his friend but didn't take a photo of it.  However I liked it so much that I made another one and here it is.

This is such a fun set to use - Party This Way.  I've teamed it up with the designer series paper - Celebrations. I popped the balloon ( pardon the pun!) and the "party this way" sign with a couple of dimensionals.

Materials used

Cardstock - Real Red, Basic Black, Whisper White
Ink - Real Red, Basic Black

Less is more!!

I saw that a few friends had joined in the Less is more  challenge blog and thought I'd join in too.  Whenever I parade my latest design, whether it's a card or scrapbook page, my husband always comments "less is more" so it seemed appropriate!

The first challenge is to design a clean and simple card using Black, White and Pink.  As I am a Stampin' Up! demonstrator I used only Stampin' Up! materials on my card.  I decided to be a little different and use black as the card base.  It helps make the pale pink pop.  The sentiment says "Party this way" so you could use this card for an invitation or birthday card.

Materials used:

Cardstock - Basic Black, Pretty in Pink, Whisper white
Ink -  Pretty in Pink
Stamp Set - Party This Way
