Simply Said Less is More

This week is a colour challenge at Less is More and we have been asked to use colours from our Nation's flag.

In the UK we have a choice of the Union Jack representing the whole of the United Kingdom or the individual flag representing each country.  As I am Scottish I decided to choose the Saltire also known as St Andrew's Cross for my card above.

I had this idea in my head for a few days and as it is based on a monochromatic colour scheme it was perfect for this weeks challenge.

I've used Pacific Point card and stamped the flowers from Simply Said and the heart from Tiny Tags in Versamark then embossed using white embossing powder.  I then mounted it on Whisper White.  This panel is popped up on Dimensionals before attaching to a Pacific Point square and placed on a Whisper White card base.

Now originally in my minds eye before seeing the challenge the panel was red so I decided to make cards representing my fellow nations.

The red and white is for England - St George's Cross and Northern Ireland - St Partrick's Cross and it's these 2 flags along with the Scottish one that make up the Union Jack.  Wales wasn't represented in the Union Jack as it wasn't a Kingdom but a Principality (amazing what you learn on google!) but I couldn't leave it out.

The colours are from Wales' national flag - The Red Dragon.

All the above cards were made using Stampin' Up! supplies which you can purchase by contacting me on ails300@btinternet.com.

Thanks for looking, I'm off to check the other entries.  I'm sure there will be lots of colourful ones.  x

Same but different

Two cards using the same colours, same stamp set and same design but still different.

I've used the Simply Said stamp set creating a flow of overlapping flowers in Baja Breeze and Not Quite Navy on the left card and Baja Breeze and Whisper White on the right.  The left hand card has been stamped onto whisper white then mounted on Not Quite Navy before being attached to a Baja Breeze card base whereas the right hand card is one layer only using Baja Breeze.

It's great to experiment with your stamps and just try out different effects and then decide which you like best.

Thanks for looking, have a great day. x

Simply Said - and the answer is..............

Did you guess correctly?

These are the two cards that the salon chose.  The one on the right was an option for their male clients who also receive vouchers as gifts.  I've included in the photo the voucher that I had made so you can say how the designs tied in.

Hope you enjoyed playing along and do drop the girls a visit if you are in the area.  They would love to see you and will make you feel very relaxed - Touch of Beauty 01224 701777

Simply Said - Can you guess which one?

I have to say this post comes with a warning!  There are a lot of photos!

I was asked by my Health and Beauty salon to make cards to go with the gift vouchers that I'd previously made for them.  100 of them!  They wanted 2 designs 50 each.  The cards had to be simple but in their colour scheme and to match their vouchers.  So I made up the following 10 samples.

No.1
Can you guess which two cards they decided to order?

No.2
No.3

No. 4

No.5

No.6
No. 7

No.8
No.9
No.10

Sorry I'm rubbish at lining up photos in posts and I did warn you there are a lot! Lol!!  So which two would you choose?  Check back in the next few days as I'm putting the finishing touches to the cards and I'll reveal the two that they chose.

If you stay in the Aberdeen area check out Touch of Beauty, The Sensory Spa at Bannatynes Health Club, Laurel Drive, Bridge of Don.   Tel No: 01224 701777.  The ladies there are all lovely and very friendly.  You don't need to be a member of Bannatynes to book appointments at the salon.

Go on treat yourself to a facial, massage, manicure or you could purchase a gift voucher for a Mother's Day gift or birthday present.  Let's face it we all love a little pampering!!

As always thanks for looking. x

Faux silk Valentine's Card

This card came about because I thought I would try out a technique shown in the Stampin' Up! monthly demonstrator magazine.  The flower panel has been given a faux silk effect!

I stamped the images using the Simply Said stamp set, then spread the card stock with multipurpose liquid glue and covered it with paper tissue.  Viola!   The card stock used is whisper white and real red.  I like the effect of double mounting especially when using one main colour.

Happy stamping. x

A colour combo using the In Colours

I enjoyed being creative with colour so much that I decided to have another go.  This time I didn't use the colour coach but went it alone!  However, still playing safely, I used 3 colours from this years In Colour range.

The colours I chose to work with were Poppy Parade, Pear Pizzazz and Concord Crush.  Here's the result -

The stamps used are from Simply Said.  A lovely set that can be used for a variety of occasions.

I'm so excited.  I'm waiting for the UPS man to arrive tomorrow with my delivery from Stampin' Up! along with some of the free stamp sets!!  I can't wait to start playing with them and will be sure to post the results.   Here's how you could earn yourself some free stamps -

Simply Said Stamp Set £25.95
In Colour card stock and classic stampin' pad kit  £27.95
Total £53.90 plus p&p

This entitles you to chose one free set from the Sale-a-Bration Catalogue.  Postage is free on orders over £60.  Another way is to host a workshop.  If your sales reach £300 before postage then you earn a stamp set in addition to the usual hostess gifts.  If you live in Aberdeenshire then I would be happy to demonstrate at your party and show you and your guests how to make this card.  You can e mail me on ails300@btinternet.com

Thanks for stopping by. x

Starting Stamping

Since starting with Stampin' Up! all I've wanted to do is play with my stamp sets.  Here are a few of the cards I've created so far using the Queue Up stamp set and the Simply Said stamp set.  Let me know your thoughts....
