Happy Mother's Day!

Happy Mother's Day!

I've been truly spoilt this morning.  We have a double celebration today as it is my Mother's birthday as well.  The children and Granny came into my bedroom bearing gifts for both of us and then we were invited down to a specially reserved table for pancakes.  Very yummy they were too!

Now that my Mother has received her card I can show it to you.

I followed the sketch at Freshly Made Sketches which you can see below.

I wanted to use these delicious papers from the Sale-A-Bration set called Sweet Sorbet.  I always seem to fall in love with the papers Stampin' Up! release for Sale-A-Bration!  You can still make them your own by order by tomorrow and when you spend £45 select them for free!

My card base is Sahara Sand and I've used mats of Basic Black for a touch of drama.  I stamped and coloured flowers from Fabulous Florets in Crisp Canteloupe using a Blender Pen.  The leaves are stamped and coloured in Summer Starfruit.  I layered the flowers and leaves together, popping the main flower up on a Dimensional, before attaching to Basic Black and fussy cutting out. The sentiment banner is from Teeny Tiny Wishes and die cut with the Bitty Banners Framelits.  I added a large pearl to the main flower to finish off.

Here's a photo of the middle.  The sentiment is from Occasional Greetings.

You'll know from looking at my blog, I don't normally do layers or use lots of papers but it was so fun to just go for it.  And after all it is for Mother's Day so an extra lush card was in order!

This is my lovely goodies.  My daughter made a card and this beautiful paper sculpture.  My my favourite sweets and can you see the little monkey from my new handbag?

Yummy pancakes!

I hope all you Mum's have been truly spoilt today too!

Feeling Sentimental about wheels

Two posts from me in one day!  This time, two cards for two challenges.

Less is More this week has a theme of round and round and Addicted to CAS has a code word of wheels.

With a first glance at my cards you may think mmmm how does this fit in with the challenges?  Ha you'll need to look closely.   The stamp I've used is the Penny Farthing from Feeling Sentimental.  Honest it is!

On the first card I coloured the wheels with my Crushed Curry Stampin' Write Marker and stamped onto Whisper White.  I then cut out the wheels.  On the large flower I added petals by punching out Summer Starfruit card stock using the Banner Punch and attaching to the back.  The stem is some green cardstock from my millions of scraps!  I used a Smoky Slate card base and added a panel stamped with the Hardwood stamp also in Smoky Slate.  The panel has the corners rounded.  I chose a simple For You sentiment from Itty Bitty Banners and die cut with the matching framelit.

What's your thoughts?

Onto my second card.  When I stamped the wheel the first time it immediately looked like a slice of lemon.  So I decided to go with the flow and make this card.

This time the card base is Crushed Curry.  I added a sentiment from Perfect Preserved stamped in Calypso Coral and die cut with the Banners Framelits.  I curled the ends with my paper snips.

Once again I coloured the wheel from Feeling Sentimental in Crushed Curry and cut out.  I then snipped a cut up to the centre.  I stamped the jar from Perfectly Preserved in Sahara Stone and fussy cut out.  To make it look like the lemon is in the jar, I snipped along the rim so I could tuck the lemon slice in.  Before doing this I stamped the wheel onto the jar in Summer Starfruit after stamping off first.  Now it looks like you can see the lemon through the glass!  I used my Aqua Pen to add a little watered down Summer Starfruit to the inside of the jar.  I tied Calypso Coral 1/8" taffetta ribbon around the top of the jar.  Then to help ground the image I added a strip of Washi Tape along the bottom of the card from Epic Day.  I slightly rounded the jar and attached to the card with Dimensionals.

Now the big question is - When the world throws you lemons, do you make a g & t or lemonade?

I'll leave you to decide what's in the jar!!

Take care with Joyful Tidings

Switch of direction today.  I'm back with Christmas.  The reason is, I love the colour challenge over at  Merry Monday.

I've used a Basic Grey card base with a mat of Cherry Cobbler and a panel of Whisper White.

I stamped the tree from Take Care minus the leaves by colouring the stamp directly with a Basic Grey Stampin' Write Marker.  The sentiment is from Christmas Greetings and stamped in Smoky Slate.  I've adorned my trees with some ornaments, punched using the Merry Minis Punch pack and then added some Basic Rhinestones for sparkle.

I'm rather pleased with the result.  It was nice to dip back into Christmas for awhile especially  as we are zooming towards Easter.  My goodness it's April next week!  Only a few more days left of Sale-A-Bration and the Best of series.  So do get in touch of you don't want to miss out.

Also only a couple of days before my stamper's 6 starts up again.  I've a couple of places left if you are interested in building your stash over a few months and taking advantage of the hostess benefits.  Have a look at my Virtual Hostess Page for details.  You don't need to stay close by because you can take part on line.

That's it from me but before I go here's a photo of my little cutie.

Take Care.  xx

Love and Sympathy Hello

Happy Day to you all!

We've been very sunny but still with a chill bite to the air.  We had hailstones and some snow yesterday!

This little card was for my Stamper's 6 ladies as a thank you for their order.  I always like to pop in a little card and usually a goodie too to show my appreciation.  There's still time to be part of my next Virtual Hostess Club starting in April.  All you need do is drop me a line.

Onto my card.  It's a Crumb Cake base with a mat of Early Espresso.  The Whisper White panel was stamped with En Francais in Crumb Cake.  This is such a fabulous background stamp for lots of projects and looks brilliant embossed too.  I then stamped the bloom from Love and Sympathy in Crumb Cake  and again in Early Espresso.  I then stamped the flower a third time in Cajun Craze on some spare Whisper White paper and cut out the flower head.   I attached the flower with a Dimensional.  I stamped Hello from Happy Day in Cajun Craze.  This is a set worth looking at as it has some super sentiments a little different from your usual greetings.

I hope you've had a happy day.  xx

Love and Sympathy x 3

Good Afternoon.  I hope you are enjoying your Saturday.

I've had a sneaky chance to play (supposed to be hoovering! Sssh don't tell anyone!!).

I'm sure as fellow crafters you will join me in the shear joy of just having a play with your crafty stash.  These moments are to be treasured as it is all for fun after all.

The less is more challenge this week has issued us with a recipe of 3.  I picked this gorgeous bloom from Love and Sympathy and coloured it with my Stampin' Write Markers before stamping.   I then punched it out using my 2 1/2" circle punch.  I then sponged round the edge with Raspberry Ripple gradually fading it into the middle.  My card base is Wild Wasibi and I stamped a border of dots from Perfect Pennants in the same colour directly onto the base.  The circle was attached with Dimensionals.  I added the hello sentiment, also from Perfect Pennants,  and cut out with the Banners Framelits.  I finished it with a Candy Dot in Wild Wasabi.

I love the sharp contrast of the colours against the green.

So for my recipe of 3, I've stamped the blooms 3 times, used 3 different stamps, used 3 colours and if you count the card base I've got 3 shapes.  I'll now be off to comment on 3 fellow players but probably more as the entries are all outstanding!

Before I go and do the dreaded h*******k,  I'd like to remind you that I have 2 places available in my Virtual Hostess Club.  You don't need to stay local to join as I can set up a hostess code to let you join in on line.  It's bery easy and a super way to build your stash and you get to be hostess for a month with all it's benefits.  The new club starts in April so drop me a line today.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend.  xx

Daisy Chain Petite Petals

Hello Folks!

My card tonight is for the challenge over at Less is More which has a theme of masking or stencilling.  I've gone with some masking.

The flowers that I'd punched out from my previous card were sitting on my desk and made me think of a daisy chain.  I started by masking down one edge then placed my flowers on the Whisper White panel.
I used a Sponge Dauber and Pistachio Pudding to daub around the flowers and added Gumball Green along the bottom.  For the centre of the flowers I used Summer Silhouette in So Saffron.  I then attached some Calypso Coral ribbon down one edge and stamped my sentiment from Sweet Essentials also in Calypso Coral.  The panel is attached to a Gumball Green card base.

It's great to be able to create a card with a few bits and pieces from your desk.

Can you believe how quickly we are marching through March??!!  It'll be April before we know it.

Hello Spring Flowers

Only 2 places available in my next Stampers 6 Group starting April.  Get in touch now to put your name down.  I'd love to help you build your stash!

Hello!

We've had a lovely sunny day today and warm too.  So washing was out, windows opened, housework done and a nice long walk with the dog.  Don't you feel so much more energised when the sun is out?

Whilst out I saw lots of crocus' and I've used them as my inspiration for my card today.

I started with a white naturals card base and punched out 3 Petite Petals flowers.  I marked the centre of each flower with a pencil so I knew where to place my flower centres.  I used one of the little stamps from Summer Silhouettes and stamped it in Crushed Curry adding a few extra.  I then used one of the stamps from Gorgeous Grunge to create a pattern and stamped it in Elegant Eggplant, Perfect Plum and Wisteria Wonder.  Slightly offsetting each time.

On the front I stamped another Gorgeous Grunge image in Garden Green.  I outlined the punched flowers using my Stampin' Write Marker Elegant Eggplant to make them stand out a little more.

My sentiment comes from the Four You set and is stamped in Elegant Eggplant.

Please excuse my finger in the photo holding the card shut.

Here's how the inside looks.

Speaking of walks.  My husband surprised me with a late Valentine's break as he was away on the 14th Feb.

We went to Pitlochry at the weekend.  A gorgeous area of Scotland and somewhere we used to visit a lot when we stayed closer in Perth.  Actually 14 years ago we started a walk which was in a book called Scotland's 100 Best Walks with my son in a baby carrier.  We never finished the walk.  So one of our main aims was to complete it.  And we did, 4 hours and 20 minutes later!

Here's some photos

Loch Faskally

Lim of Tummel

After such a long walk, we limped into the first coffee shop back in Pitlochry and ordered pancakes with toffee sauce and ice cream.  Mmmmm It just hit the spot!

Hope you've had some lovely spring weather with you!  xx

Having a birthday blast with Banner Blast

I've had another play with Banner Blast and as I enjoyed the layout I used last time here I went with that.  Isn't it great that by just changing colours and a background you can get a completely different feel?

For this card I used a Sahara Sand card base with a mat of Real Red.  I then stamped Hardwood in Sahara Sand onto Very Vanilla to give a drift wood look.  My banner is made up of a variety of colours and stamps from Banner Blast and were punched out with the co-ordinating punch.  They are popped up on Dimensionals.  I stamped my sentiment from Sassy Salutations in Real Red.

When you get a layout you like it's ok to stick with it, just change it up a little.

We were at my son's careers fair tonight.  It was very good with lots of stands.  He's not sure what he wants to be and has gone through a few career choices so far.  So we picked up leaflets from a few stands and he's happy the subjects he has chosen seem to fit in with whichever direction he finally decides on.

I kept looking for the stand that says card making is the future!  It wasn't there!!! Lol!!

Have fun whatever you are doing and thanks for your visit.  xx

Stampin' Up!'s Swallowtail

Yesterday I shared a card I'd made using the bouncing brayer technique.  Today I'm sharing with you the card we made at my recent workshop using the same technique.  Don't worry, you don't need your sunglasses for these cards!

For this first one I inked up one side of the brayer with Coastal Cabana, and the other side with Island Indigo.  I then dipped that same side in Elegant Eggplant.  If you don't want to cross contaminate your ink pad then just use two colours.  I wiped my ink pad with kitchen roll and it seems fine.

The wonderful Swallowtail butterfly is stamped in Versamark on velum and embossed in Basic Black.  I then cut round the butterfly and attached with snail.  The sentiment comes from Happy Day and is stamped in Basic Black.  I cut it out in a banner shape and added 3 Candy Dots.  A large Basic Rhinestone gives a little sparkle.

I also demonstrated a second card which is softer and more subtle.

This time the colours are Calypso Coral and Coastal Cabana.  This time Swallowtail is embossed on Velum in White and the whole panel is attached to the patterned background.
I like the way the colours show through the butterfly.

So now it's time for me to pack up for the night but I'll leave you with a thought.  My daughter shouted down to me the other morning, "Mum is it raining?"  I looked outside at the spitting rain and thought she'll be looking for a lift to school.  "Yes I said but only a little".  "Goody" she replied "I can wear my new wellies and take my new umbrella!"  Silver linings I thought.

I hope your week is full of silver linings!  x

Smile and put your sunglasses on!

Only 2 places available in my next Stampers 6 Group starting April.  Get in touch now to put your name down.  I'd love to help you build your stash!

This is the card I made for the Card Swap group I'm part of.  We were asked to use red orange and yellow to brighten the persons day.  I think I got bright correct!!

I played about with a new technique for me - Bouncing Brayer.  I inked up my brayer with Daffodil Delight on one side and Pumpkin Pie on the other then tapped it around in a circle until I'd covered the area.  I then sponged some Real Red around the edges.  I used this lovely medallion from Happy Day, stamped in Basic Black, as a focal image and the sentiment smile just seemed perfect for such a bright card.  I finished it off with a coloured rhinestone brad and attached onto a mat of Basic Black which was then attached to a card base of Daffodil Delight.

Happy Day is one of those stamp sets you may pass by in the catalogue but it has some lovely sentiments which make a pleasant change from the normal greetings.  Also they are perfect for scrapbooking pages.

I took this technique to a workshop and the ladies had fun getting all inky creating their backgrounds.  I'll show you the cards we made another day.

You might feel this looks too complicated for me but really it's not.  Have a go and see what you create.  However if you want a fast easy to make set of cards then Stampin' Up! has a new product for you.

The kit is £17.95 and makes 20 cards.  Click on the title above to see the flyer in full.  This is a super set for someone just starting out in card making or to give as a gift.

Have a good day and I hope this has made you smile!  xx

Stampin Ups Perfectly Penned Poppies

I'm loving seeing crocus' and snowdrops popping up.  Also our daffies which are starting to come through.  Is Spring on it's way?

It's a great time to join in with Less is More this week as they have a colour theme of Green and Yellow, just right for Spring.

I love poppies and Stampin' Up!'s Pleasant Poppies stamp makes a great background.  I inked it up with Pistachio Pudding, but before stamping I coloured a single bloom with Always Artichoke Stampin' Write Marker.  Once stamped I then coloured the spot lighted flower with Daffodil Delight.

For the sentiment I chose the beautiful Perfectly Penned and stamped it in Always Artichoke onto velum.  I used 4 candy dots to hide my glue.  I then popped up the panel on Dimensionals and attached to a Pistachio Pudding base.

We've had a lovely sunny day today.  Great for out walking the dog and taking some time to craft.

It's the beginning of March and we are in our last month of Sale-A-Bration, the best time to add to your stash and earn a freebie or two.

Like earning free products?  Then why not join my Virtual Hostess Club and whilst spreading the cost of your wish list, you will also be Virtual Hostess for a month.  Entitling you to a minimum of £25 to spend anywhere in the catalogue.  Only 2 places left.
