Born to .........

......Ride or rather Craft in my case.  Of course crafting covers everything from cards to baking, sewing, and even knitting.

But first let's look at my card.

For my Hubby's birthday I made this card and as he's a biker, One Wild Ride was perfect. Have you seen it in the Annual Catalogue?  It's super cool.

To create the little scene I teamed up the motorbike with Sheltering Tree.  I chose some autumnal colours for my tree using So Saffron and Pumpkin Pie. A few sponged clouds help finish it off.

Speaking of Autumn...... Can you believe we are now in September?

The bad news may be the end of Summer but the good news is our Autumn/Winter mini catalogue is here.  Check it out on my side bar.  Loads of scummy goodies in there to keep you busy during the dark evenings.

We've also got some cracking sales to have a look at.  25% off certain items until 21st September but keep checking back because it changes each week.

So back to other hobbies.

Check out the little cardie I made for our gorgeous little granddaughter.  It only took me 14 years!  Yep you heard right! I started it for my daughter (who is now 14), but never got it finished before she grew too big so it was put away.  With the news of our new addition I got the pins out and finished it in time for Niamh.

I'll leave you with a picture of Niamh in the cardie.

Isn't she just the cutest?

Take care xx

Zoo Babies

This is such a cute stamp set.  I've used Stampin' Up! markers to colour directly onto the stamps.  This means you can easily achieve different colours in your images.

I've first punched my images out using the postage stamp punch then attached to a Soft Sky Scallop Square. The card base is Pacific Point with a mat of Tempting Turquoise.  I stamped a banner of flags on the background from Banner Banter.  The sentiment also comes from this set.

I love these little critters such a shame they are now retired.

Take care. xx

Pop of Paradise

Ooooh La La.

Look at this Pop of Paradise.  Just had to pair it up with lush pinks.

This is my first play with some of the new items from the catalogue.  Not my usual choice of stamps but I love it.  It's good to challenge yourself.

I've used Melon Mambo, Brushed Gold, Basic Black and Whisper White to make this card "Pop".  The leaves and flamingo are stamped in the new In Colours - Emerald Envy and appropriately named Flirty Flamingo. The sentiment is stamped in Melon Mambo and to finish I punched out a small heart in Gold Foil.

We've had a lovely sunny weekend.  A pop of paradise at home!

Take care.

Hot Diggity it's your birthday!

Hot Diggity Dog it's your birthday!

Here's a cute little card for someone special.  I've used Hot Diggity Dog, Age Awareness and Birthday Basics Designer Series paper.  Oh and check the bling on the doggy's collar!

For the design I've followed Less is More sketch this week. It was fun to follow the sketch as the old mojo really needs a dust.

I liked the idea of the doggy walking by with the balloons floating above and thankfully found this balloon paper in my stash.

Have you had a chance to look at the new catalogue yet?  It's brimming with loads of new lovely products just waiting to inspire you.

Take care. x

14 and Simply Sassy!

My daughter turned 14 last weekend.  So grown up! It's a bit scary really, well for Mum and Dad!

I always like to do a special card for her birthday and decided to choose this rather Sassy lady to colour using my Copic Sketch pens.

Isn't she fab?  I've teamed her with Stampin' Up! products.  A stamped panel using Flower Shop In Basic Grey, Wisteria Wonder and Pear Pizzazz.  I then added a sentiment tag using Number of Years and the corresponding framelits. This set is super for adding numbers to your cards.

We took my daughter and her friends to Blair Drummond Safari Park for her birthday.  It was a brilliant day out.  The girls had a ball.  My daughter had a schedule all worked out so all my husband and I needed to do was have the picnic ready for them coming back to the car and of course being taxi drivers.

This weekend she is off on a Guiding camp.  Must be great being 14!!!

Pieces of Swallowtail

Swallowtail is such a super large stamp.  Loads of detail and I've found a great way to display it!

I've used a Sahara Stone card base for my card.  I stamped Swallowtail in Rose Red on Whisper White and cut it into pieces, then mounted them onto Elegant Eggplant panels. I used Perfect Pennants stamped in Elegant Eggplant for the sentiment.

Hope you had a lovely weekend.

From the Herd

"It's pasture birthday.......hope it was great!"

Sometimes birthdays slip our minds so use a sweet stamp  like this to bring a smile.

It was such a joy to colour using my Copics.

I made it into a tag using a Crumb Cake base with an Early Espresso mat.

Don't they look?  I'm sure I'd be forgiven if I sent this card!

You Rock using Stampin' up!

You Rock!

Just saying cos you're here visiting me!

My card today is for Less is More using white space that's not white!

The card I've made started out differently in my head then evolved.  I'm very pleased with the end result but during the middle of the process was quite dubious.  Does that happen to you?

Here's the lowdown.

Start with a card base of Cherry Cobbler.
Cut a panel of Crumb Cake the same size as the front.  Punch out 3 little stars from the corner using Itty Bitty Accents.
Add freestyle paper pierced pattern around the edge.
Distress the edge with my Paper Snips.
Attach a panel of Cherry Cobbler the same size as Crumb Cake top panel.
Use Star Framelits to cut a large star out of top panel.
Cut a smaller star for insert.
Attach top panel with Dimensionals
Use the punch to add a silver star to middle.
Add Basic Rhinestones to the smaller stars.
Stamp sentiment from Crazy About You with Night of Navy.

I love using Cherry Cobbler. It's such a deep velvety red. Very lush and it goes very well with Crumb Cake. And no white used at all!

Hope you like.

Polka Dot Bow Ties

How simple is this?  Bish Bash Bosh and one masculine card done in record time!

I made these sweet little bow ties using the Bow Builder Punch.   The patterned papers are from a retired neutrals paper stack.  The sentiment is from Sassy Salutations and stamped in Basic Grey. The mat is Very Vanilla on a card base of Basic Black.

This is perfect for Less is More this week which has a recipe of polka dots.

A little reminder that tomorrow is the last day of Sale-A-Bration so grab yours whilst they are still here!

Look what my son made this evening.  Ninja gingerbread men!  How cool are these?  His sister helped with the icing.  Unfortunately I can't have any.  :(

Party Pants for Less is More

Party Pants is a new addition to the Sale-A-Bration stamps.  You may have noticed that there were some limited edition stamps in the leaflet, well this is one of the new sets only available until end of Sale-A-Bration.

If you like sentiments then this one could be for you.

I've used it very simply here for the Less is More which is one layer week with the focus on the sentiment.  And for one layer the Whisper White Thick card stock is just fab.

Here's the run down -

I stamped the balloon and string in Wisteria Wonder.  Then stamped the sentiment in Elegant Eggplant. It fits perfectly.  The tassle is stamped in Perfect Plum.  The confetti was stamped off twice in Rose Red before stamping onto the card.

I then reached for my new favourite tool.  You have to get one of these!  My Wink of Stella Brush!  I got the clear so you can still see the colour underneath.  I added the glitter to the balloon, hassle and confetti. It's so easy to use and so precise.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend.

Happy Mother's Day

Happy Mother's Day.

Love to all you wonderful Mum's out there.

This is the card that I made for my Mum.  I tried out a new technique.  This is a window swing card.  Not sure if that's the correct name for it.  Here's a couple of pics showing how it works.

She was absolutely delighted with it.  To be truthful so am I!

So here's the run down.

Basic Black card base with a mat of Gold Foil.  Added a panel of Painted Petals Designer Series Paper (retired).

Love these large blooms and just perfect for Mother's Day.

Die cut a window using Window Framelits and set aside cut outs for later.

Made the middle with Whisper White card stock folded into a Z fold.  Stamped a border around the edges with Painted Petals (retired).  Glued the right hand section to the card base.

Used a smaller framelit to cut a Whisper White panel. Stamped a little flower arrangement. Sentiment is from Crazy About You.  Added a mat of Gold Foil trimmed using Paper Snips.

Glued the cut out window pieces together.  Added the stamped panel.  With card closed and inside panel folded into a Z, glued the window cut out back into place through the open window.

Added an extra sentiment panel along the bottom using the Scalloped Tag Topper Punch.  Attached flashes of Daffodil Delight Satin Ribbon and tied off with thick Pistachio Bakers' Twine.

So there you have it.  Quite simple really, but so effective.  Great for those special occasions.

If you are a Mum, Granny or a Mum to be, hope you are sitting having breakfast in bed whilst reading this!
Have a lovely day. xx

Thinking of You Sheltering Tree

Mothering Sunday is just around the corner.  I got my card posted off today but of course can't show you that one at the moment.  A certain someone may have a sneaky peak at my blog and that would spoil the surprise.

This card works easily as a Mothering Sunday, birthday or indeed a sympathy card.

It shows off the absolutely beautiful Sheltering Tree and the sentiment simply reads as thinking of you from the same set.

I've used a card base of Perfect Plum with a mat of Wisteria Wonder and the gorgeous patterned paper from Something Borrowed.  Not just for weddings huh?

The featured square has a mat of Blackberry Bliss and panel of Whisper White.  The tree is stamped in Perfect Plum for the foliage and Basic Grey for the trunk.  Sahara Sand grounds the tree.

Pear Pizzaz ribbon and bow finishes off the card with a flag tag sentiment stamped in Soft Sky, popped up on Dimensionals.

Hope all you Mum's, Granny's, Mum's to be, have a lovely weekend!

Happy Valentine's Day - Bloomin' Love

Happy Valentine's Day

From the new Spring/Summer catalogue comes Bloomin' Love.

I made this for my hubby so toned down the girly look by choosing Crumb Cake and Garden Green as my colour palette. Notice the designer paper matches the stamped border.  Love how easy it is to co-ordinate with Stampin' Up!

The heart was die cut twice, once in Garden Green and again in Whisper White.  I then snipped the white flowers and added them in to the green heart.   You could then embellish the flowers further but I didn't want it too frilly.

Loving the delicate lacy feel to the heart but even more so that it is made up of flowers and leaves.

Are you enjoying a lovely box of chocs or perhaps a glass of bubbly, maybe going out for dinner with you loved one?  No, me neither, on a stupid diet!

Ah well a beautifully made card doesn't put calories on! Lol!

Quilting Sisters

A friend of mine had a special birthday a few months back and this is the card I made for her. You can guess she likes sewing so the image was just perfect.  I added a few hexagons at the side to further develop the quilting theme.  The image and stamps are from Art Impressions. I coloured them with Copic Sketch Pens. The card stock and designer papers are all from my Stampin' Up! stash as is the cute button.

Enjoy your weekend.

Flower Shop Note Cards

A cute set of note cards for any occasion and so quick to rustle up.

I made these the same size as the front of a normal card blank so they slip easily into an envelope.

The base is Marina Mist card with a Whisper White panel.  I added a strip of Designer Paper, the delicious Something Borrowed (retired). Although this paper series was in the wedding section, I love to show that it can be used for any occasion.

The flowers are stamped from Flower Shop and punched out using the Pansy Punch.  You might not be able to tell from the photo but I used two different coloured card stocks for the flowers - Soft Sky and Pool Party.  The flowers were stamped in Pool Party and Marina Mist. The front flower is popped up on a Dimensional and both have Basic Rhinestone centres.

These are perfect for dropping a little note or thank you and being only one side won't cost an arm and a leg in postage!

We had a snowy morning but all gone by this afternoon.  However very cold, windy and wet.  Brrrrr so glad to be inside all cosy and getting crafty!

Painted Petals Simply Done

I made this card a while back when I was recovering from a shoulder injury.  You don't realise how much you use it until you can't! I had no choice but to keep the card simple.

I've used the delightful set, Painted Petals, sadly retired now. It has a lovely sentiment to send to a friend.

 Hope you enjoy.

Another Balloon Card

I have another balloon card to show you from the Stampin' Up! party I was demoing at recently.

This one has only one balloon drifting with a string that says Let us Celebrate.  I've sponged the stars again using the template.  The shading on the balloon and sentiment are also embossed in silver.

I love this single balloon with the soft stars background.

It was fun trying out this new set.  Loads of options to get you inspired.

Take care. x

Floating Balloons

Balloon Celebration from the Spring/Summer Catalogue.

I love these floating balloons with their little dandelion tufts.  I think they really suit a Congratulations card.

I demonstrated this card at a recent Stampin' Up! party. We used the stars stencil to add some soft stars to the background and interspersed the spaces with the little stars from the stamp set.  The shading on the balloons, the dandelion tufts and the sentiment are all embossed in silver.

Well, a congratulations card should have a little sparkle!

Have a super weekend.

A Belated Happy New Year!

Happy New Year to all my lovely blogger friends.  I hope 2016 fills you with joy!

I thought these party balloons from Celebrate Today were perfect for New Year.

Of course I've added a bit of wow by punching one of the balloons with the Confetti Stars Border Punch.  Then backing it with Red Glimmer Paper

I've added a banner with the sentiment from the retired set Good Greetings, embossed in gold. This was a free set available with a qualifying party.  It's always good to keep an eye out for promotions and especially just now because it's Sale-A-Bration time. So with every order of £45 you receive a freebie from the Sale-A-Bration leaflet.  Have a look at my side bar for more details.

Take care and keep cosy!  x
