I'm going Crackers!

My Sister-in-law asked if I could help with a project making Crackers and here are my attempts at a couple of samples.  I found a tutorial here.  It is really easy to follow.  I've made both my crackers using Designer Series Paper from last years catalogue but it will also look great in Very Vanilla or Whisper White with your own stamped design on it.  This is the way I'll be making them with my Sister-in-law. 

The first cracker has a tag from Tags till Christmas on it.  The second one is more contemporary and I've used the Fun Flowers Die to make the topper.  I like this one because who says Crackers should just be for Christmas?  I think you could use this design all year round. 

Imagine the excitement when you put these on the table and everyone trying to guess what's inside.  You can buy cracker snappers separately and then fill your cracker with a little gift - sweets, lottery ticket, hair slides for a girl, pen etc.  Well I'm sure you can think of even more fab ideas!  A little tag with the recipients name attached to one end will keep you right so they don't get mixed up but you never know it could be funny if you didn't and made it a game of trying to guess who the present was for originally!

Welcome Christmas

Hi, thanks for coming to visit.  I've another card for you from the Welcome Christmas stamp set.  I can't seem to put it down just now and I have more cards to show you later.

This one is for LESS IS MORE which has a theme week and it's silhouette.  his stamp set is perfect for it and as my last post used the children sledging I thought I would have the family dressing the tree this time.

I stamped the family in Versamark first then into Basic Black and embossed with clear embossing powder.  I then  made a garland using the wreath stamp with Basic Grey.  I stamped again a couple of times without re inking to give some depth and because I liked the pattern.  I sponge daubed the edges with frost white Shimmer Paint then attached this to a square of Basic Black card.  Then stamped the sentiment in Basic Grey and attached to the Basic Black card blank.  The main panel was attached with Dimensionals.

Snowy days

Quick post today.  Really should be cracking on with some other cards I've been asked to make but got distracted by Freshly Made Sketches.  Here's the sketch - 

I've been having a play with the Welcome Christmas set, more cards to show later, and thought the scene with the children on the sledge would fit the square in the centre.  The rest of the card evolved from there. 

Here's how I made my card - The figures are stamped in Night of Navy.  I tore a piece of Whisper White and used it as a mask to sponge in a sky of Night of Navy and Bashful Blue.  Then reversed it and added it along the bottom which was covered in Dazzling Diamonds glitter.  This panel was mounted onto Night of Navy card stock then added onto Whisper White which has been embossed with the Perfect Polka Dots Embossing Folder.  Before attaching to the Night of Navy card stock, I added a strip of Bashful Blue with snowflakes from Serene Snowflakes stamped in Night of Navy.  For the circle, I used the snowman tag from Tags Till Christmas but instead of punching the whole tag, I used the 1" inch circle punch to just highlight the snowman.  Then popped him on a Dimensional.  Perhaps the children made him before heading home?! 

This was fun but now I've got to settle down to what I should be doing.  Ta ta for now and thanks for your visit. x

San-tag-stic Christmas!

Good Evening and thanks for popping in by.  Today's card is for CAS-ual Fridays which has a theme this week of "Tag you're it".  Your project is to be clean and simple and include a tag.  I've used 3 tags so mine is a tag tag tag you're it!

This idea came together pretty quickly once I thought of it.  I've used the fantastic new stamp set Tags till Christmas.  The tags were stamped in Real Red and one in Old Olive.  They were punched out with the tag punch and mounted onto a Basic Black tag using the larger punch.  Simples huh?! I used a scrap strip of Real Red (do you have loads of these strips?  I do. I'll have to do a card just with these one day!) and set this behind my Santa tags.  The tags are actually mounted onto Dimensionals.  I stamped Merry Christmas from Loads of Love (now retired) onto the Whisper White picking up just the words I wanted by using my Stampin' Write marker directly onto the stamp.  The Whisper White was mounted onto Basic Black which in turn was attached to my Real Red card base.  Viola job done.  Mmmm not quite.  Next I made an insert using my computer to add a sentiment saying "To someone who dares to stand out.  Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year".  Not very original I know.

Thank You Leaves

What is happening to the weeks?  They are just flying by.  Slow down please! 

I have a little card to share with you today.  This is my weeks entry into LESS IS MORE which is to make a one layer card with leaves.  

I'm sending out a huge thank you to the ladies that came along to my workshop the other week.  It was fun to show off the new catalogue and demonstrate some of the new goodies that are in it.  (You can see the new catalogue yourself by clicking on the brochure in my side panel)

The stamp set I've used today is Paisley Petals.  There are 5 stamps in the set and in addition to this lovely leaf design there are beautiful intricate flowers and stems.  Perfect for colouring.  I was lucky enough to achieve the sales at my party to earn this set and the gorgeous designer papers that accompany it for free.  I think it's brilliant that demonstrators can also take advantage of the super offers and promotions that Stampin' Up! regularly put out.  You can see this particular offer in more detail if you Click Here or click on the picture on my side panel.  Don't be slow though as it has a time limit. 

I've kept my card very simple as it is only 3" by 3".   The base is Whisper White.  I used my Stampin' Write Markers to colour directly onto the stamp with the In Colours - Pear Pizzazz,  Peach Parfait and Poppy Parade.   I'm obviously still being influenced by last weeks challenge of red and orange!  Hee Hee.

I finished my card by stamping a sentiment in Pear Pizzazz from the Pocket Silhouettes set. 

This next card is not mine but I thought I would show it as it fits the one layer theme albeit it's not leaves but a whole tree.  My daughter who is 9 is super organised.  She does not get this from me!  She has started to make, (not her Christmas cards, they are already written!) but her Thank You cards for after Christmas.  This is the design she decided on once she had a play on some scrap paper.  She also picked her colours, Lucky Limeade and Wisteria Wonder, which are from the new set of In Colours.  The stamp set is Season of Joy.  Isn't she clever?  I just left her to it with a little hint that less is more!

Pocket Silhouettes Wreath

Red and Orange Huh?  I can honestly say Orange is not really my colour and I have the proof.  When looking at the latest challenge from LESS IS MORE which is to use red and orange, I realised that I only have one orange in my ink collection but 3 reds.  I know that these two colours can produce stunning cards.  Check out the fantastic entries over at Less is More to see what I mean, but it's not a combo I would normally use.  I think I need to rectify this.

So onto my card.  I've made an autumnal wreath with my Real Red and Pumpkin Pie combo and i rather like it.  The wreath was created by punching out a circle and using it as a mask.  I then stamped Pocket Silhouettes round the circle, using another post it to mask off the ends of the flowers.  I first stamped the flower in Real Red then rolled the ends in Pumpkin Pie.  The little leaf is from Vintage Vogue and this was also stamped in Real Red and rolled in Pumpkin Pie.

There are four lovely flower/grasses stamps in the Pocket Silhouettes set.  I wonder what they would look like?    Must try another day.

My card stock is Very Vanilla to keep the warm feel and it's mounted onto Real Red.  My sentiment is from Season of Joy and stamped in Real Red.

I dressed up my wreath with little berries.  Did you spot them?  They are the smallest of the Basic Rhinestones and I coloured them red with a permanent marker.  I think my marker was running out so they are not overly red but luckily match the stamped image beautifully.

Perfect Punch at Christmas

Too many things going on, too much to do.  Hope everyone had a spooky Halloween and lots of fun trick or treating.  My two had a ball and came back with loads of loot.  Now the real trick is for me to avoid all that chocolate in the cupboard!

Bit of a late addition to CAS-ual Fridays this week which is to follow a sketch.

I've kept it very simple.  The tree is from Season of Joy and stamped in Old Olive.  Joy at Christmas from Perfect Punches is stamped in Real Red and punched out with the Scalloped Circle.  It's mounted onto a couple of Dimensionals.  Two strips of Basic Black from my scrap box were placed behind.
