Brayering Some Scottish Hillsides

Hi I'm very excited to be here with you today.  A couple of weeks ago I was lucky to win at Casology (you can see my card here) and when you win you are invited to be a guest designer.  And yes you've guessed it this is my week.

and the cue card is green.

The inspiration for my card came from the scottish hillsides as we were driving back to Aberdeen from Perth.  They were so green in the sunshine.

I made the shape of the hills by tearing a post it note and placing on some Very Vanilla card.  I then used my Brayer to colour the hills in three colours - Certainly Celery in the background, Old Olive for the middle hill and Always Artichoke in the foreground.  Once the hills were brayered, I sponged some purples over the edges.  Elegant Eggplant on the front hill, Perfect Plum on the middle and Wisteria Wonder on the distant hill.  A hint towards some heather perhaps?  We saw lots of scottish pines on the hillsides so I've added a pine from Lovely as a Tree in Always Artichoke.  My brayered panel was matted onto another panel of Very Vanilla.  Then wrapped some of that gorgeous sparkly Lucky Limeade Organdy Ribbon around it and added a bow.  My card base is Certainly Celery stamped with the Woodgrain stamp in Always Artichoke.

Thanks for coming by for a visit today.  Looking forward to seeing your take on this weeks challenge. x

Congratulations on your GDT spot - richly deserved. These green tones are beautiful together and the purple sponging sets off the brayering perfectly. I'd have never thought to add purple to a green card, but it works ever so well.

I've been there! (Well, maybe not quite there, but my inlaws live in Scotland and we've walked quite a few moors and hills when we visit from Canada!) This is a lovely green scene and really captures what I remember of Scotland!

Congratulations to your win, Aileen. You deserve it, being a guest designer! I just admire your card, it's really beautiful. Great combination.
I've been in Scotland a few times, because my husband is scottish. So I can imagine the 'scottish hills'. I always loved to be there.
