Stampin' Up!'s Festive Flurry in Fabric

Less is More has set such a difficult challenge this week.  Our theme is to use Fabric or Felt.

I had to dig out my retired Stampin' Up! fabric.  For this top card I've used a Cherry Cobbler base with a panel of Very Vanilla.  I die cut the large Festive Flurry snowflake then part embossed it with the Perfect Polka Dot Embossing Folder.  Merry Christmas from Sassy Salutations is stamped in Cherry Cobbler.

Here's a second version in Elegant Eggplant.

Again I've used some retired Stampin' Up! fabric behind the Whisper White panel.  I fussy cut out the sentiment this time which was stamped in Perfect Plum.  I added a silver bow to the top.

Another two Christmas cards made.  Pat on the back but there's only 13 Saturdays left before Christmas Folks!!  So better get cracking and make some more!

Ta ta for now.  xx

A "Perfect Blend" to feel better

Stampin' UP!'s Perfect Blend is super for making lots of different cards.  I've used it here as a Get Well Card for the Less is More challenge this week which is one layer week.

I tried out the bleaching technique on this card and learnt loads.  All the things you shouldn't do!  But got there in the end.

The card base is So Saffron.  I wanted a warm card for a Get Well.  I then stamped the cup from Stampin' Up!'s Perfect Blend in Basic Grey.  I bleached out the lid and label.  Then hunted around for a permanent marker to write Chicken Soup.  SU's Stampin' Write Markers disappeared before your very eyes!  Pretty cool to watch but not great for my card.  I coloured  in the rest of the cup with More Mustard Stampin' Write Marker.  Then added a single score line behind the cup to ground it.  The sentiment is from Stampin' Up!'s Sassy Salutations and is stamped in Basic Grey.

I do hope that you are feeling well and not in need of any chicken soup!  However a warming bowl of chicken soup would go down really well here in the North East of Scotland.  It's been heavy rain during the night and is very windy and cold.  Yesterday was lovely, out in the garden in T shirts.  Perhaps I should have looked at the weather report before doing my windows but my 14 year old son was looking for some pocket money and I wasn't going to pass up on the help!  He has long arms and can reach those hard places whereas Mum has to stand on a step!

I hope it's not to cold and wild with you.  Keep cosy. xx

Edit:  I've just noticed Addictied to CAS is also Get Well this week so I'm popping it into there as well.

Wetlands x 2 similar but different

I had such a fab morning yesterday in the middle of a rather hectic day.  What was I doing?  Crafting at a Workshop with the best bunch of ladies.  The card above is the one we made.

I had great fun with this one getting all inky.  Sometimes not in the right places but we'll skip past that bit!

We started off making the scene on the Glossy Cardstock panel.  First we stamped these gorgeous Wetlands birdies in Black Stazon.  Then we inked up an Acrylic Block by tapping it down the length of Marina Mist ink pad then spritzed it with a fine mist of water.  This caused hilarity whilst we tried not to spray each other with water!  We then pressed this onto our Glossy cardstock and carefully lifted.  We then used a Sponge Dauber to go over any white areas or to soften any hard lines.  Everyone achieved beautiful different effects.  We did the same with Crumb Cake along the top.  Then for a little added interest we stamped some of the grasses around one edge in Cajun Craze.  The panel was attached to a Basic Black mat which helps make the colours pop.  A White Gel Pen adds the flashes of white back into the birds.

I stamped in Whisper White the sentiment from the set onto the Cajun Craze mat.  To finish off we attached some Baker's Twine along the bottom.

This was a second sample to show how you could dress it up a little differently.  Some Cajun Craze was sponged around the the grasses edge and the panel was popped up on Dimensionals. The sentiment this time was stamped in Marina Mist and a ribbon tag was made by trimming round the sentiment and by using the Petite Curly Label punch at an angle.  A candy dot finishes off the tag.  The Adorning Accents Edgelit gives a lovely scalloped border and under that I tucked some Natural Trim Ribbon.

My ladies all said they would have flicked past this set but they all loved using it and hopefully I've inspired them to look at in a new light.

Hi to Stampin' Up!'s Bright Blossoms

Oh my have you seen the stunning colour inspiration photo over at Less is More?  It's very haunting.

So the colours are Green and Rust.  I've used Cajun Craze and Garden Green.

I've combined this challenge with the Card Swap card for this month which is to have a sentiment as the focal point.  I'd normally only put my cards up on my blog once I know it's definitely been received but I'm always at the last minute with this group that I want to get it posted in both ways!

I started with cutting out Hello using the Typeset Alphabet Bigz Dies.  But the O wouldn't fit!  I don't think a card with the remaining letters would have been very nice???....  So I've gone with Hi.  I layered the letters to give a shadow effect and added some faux stitching with a White Gel pen as highlights.  This was attached to a Naturals White card stock panel.

The blossom branch from Bright Blossoms was inked up using Stampin' Write Markers in the same colours.  Some were stamped without reinking.  I added a little highlights to the  blossom berries in the foreground with the White Gel pen.  To give the added glow of warmth  I sponged some Cajun Craze around one edge.

The naturals panel is popped up on Dimensionals.

Once I had stamped my design it struck me that it would work well for a Christmas card too.  Perhaps with some added glitter but I'm not sure HO would work on it's own.  Just doesn't sound right so perhaps JOY or NOEL!!

This card is going to be winging it's way to my card swap Lady tomorrow and I hope she doesn't see it here first but I'm sure she is too busy just now!

It's all go here.  I came home yesterday to find my son had been trying to do a trick with his skateboard and failed.  Bashed his nose and lip.  Skint, bruised and swollen.  He said he had managed to do it before and this time decided to film it on his phone.  So lucky me got to see my son smack his face off the paving stones!  Ouch!!!

I hope you aren't too busy and take time out to visit your crafty space.  xx

Flower Shop Thank You

I'm playing with the In colours again.  Sorry I just can't seem to stay away from them when I'm looking at colours.  I wouldn't have put these colours together myself but they just work don't you think?

Two new stamp sets to play with.  The first was this fab sentiment from Four You.  Then I used the flowers from Flower Shop and punched one out with the Pansy Punch.  I've used a Bashful Blue card base to set off the colours.

I made these cards to go into my last workshop customer's bags, to show my appreciation for their orders but I'm also going to use it as an on line Thank You to my first on line customer.  Yipee it was such a boost to receive my e mail from Stampin' Up! to say I had an order!

  Thank you Susan.  Mwah x

Susan has a super blog which you can see here.  Do pay her a visit, she has wonderful creations on there and always finishes off her cards to a high standard with the middles all beautifully decorated too.

Hope you enjoy your new downloads and other goodies!  There'll be a little something extra winging it's way to you as a real Thank You!

Do you fancy becoming one of my on line customers?  In Susan's own words it's "easy peasy!"  I'd love to help you with your crafty creations!

Bye for now.  xx

My Digital Studio Arrives!

Can you guess what I've been doing this morning?  Yep having a play with this fantastic new tool.  My Digital Studio is an on line software programme that Stampin' Up! have just launched in the UK.

It's very easy to get to grips with and with more time I would have added some shadows for a more 3d look.

It makes a super way to plan your pages too as anything can be changed.  Unlike doing it for real where you might want to change something after it's been stuck down.  Haven't we all been there.

You can try it out for free for 30 days so why not have a play and see what you can create.  Then if you like it you can purchase the software for £13.95.

I hope this has whetted your appetite to go and have a look.  Click onto my Shop Now button to go to the online store.

I wonder what you will make?  xx

Chalk Talk Gift For You

As promised I'm popping in today to show you the other item we made at the workshop party.  The request was for a post it note holder so this is what we made.  I used Crumb Cake as a the base and the designer paper from Epic Day.  The ladies were so impressed with this paper, they thought it had been stamped.  We then made decorated label using Chalk Talk.  In this example I had embossed the filigree with clear embossing powder after stamping it in Basic Grey.  Looks black in this photo.  The middle was punched out and the label raised on Dimensionals.  The For You is stamped in Gumball Green.  Various snippets of ribbons were added to the pen holder.

It was fun to make a project that wasn't a card.

I'm excited today my daughter is back home from her trip and I'm looking forward to hearing all her stories!

In the meantime here's a couple of photos of my other little girl who had her first hair cut this week.

Here she is all scruffy.  (If you think her eyes look funny it'll be because I tried to remove the red eye!!)

And here she is all trimmed and smelling lovely.  Whether because it was so exciting being in the doggy parlour or it was a traumatic experience she just wanted to lie down and sleep the rest of the afternoon!

Take care and wishing you a lovely weekend.  x

Chalk Talk Tags

I'm sharing a couple of tags with you today that I demonstrated at a recent workshop party.  They are so simple to make but are really effective.  This first one is a normal straight forward tag with the stamped image cut out then mounted onto the corresponding framelit in Very Vanilla.  I stamped the tag from Chalk Talk in Early Espresso then rubbed over it using a Sponge Dauber with Crisp Cantaloupe.  I got this idea from Dawn's Stampin Studio and you can see a video tutorial here

Everyone was a little nervous stamping with this large tag but it took the ink really well and they all made fab tags.  It's lovely to see the smiles when they saw perfect results!

I was a little nervous rubbing the ink over the tag but there's no need to worry with the coloured inks just let Black or White dry a little longer.  I learnt that the hard way when I made the example below!

This tag is Basic Black stamped onto Whisper White.  Then a second tag is stamped.  Let it dry completely!  Then rub a colour over the something banner.  This can be cut out and attached with some Dimensionals.  I added a Basic Rhinestone to each off the corners for extra glam.  The base for the tag was cut from a folded piece of Basic Black card stock.  I placed the edge of the framelit past the fold so it didn't cut through and created a folded tag. This could be used for a special message inside or you could make a little pocket for some folded money.  Here it is open to let you see.

These tags can be used on their own or on a card and are great for any occasion.  Super to have this set on your shelf with Halloween and Christmas coming up.

A bit of a Stampin' Up! Wetlands Experiment

A bit of an experiment indeed!  Let me explain.  First of all if you are a regular reader you will know that I love to join in at Less is More and this week's challenge is use a Rubber Stamp with a desert option of water colouring.

Using the rubber stamp is no problem but my experimentation came in with the water colouring.  Which stamp set to use?  Well if we are getting wet then Wetlands seemed appropriate.

I took the image of the goose (is it a goose?  I'm not sure!) and coloured it with my Stampin' Write Markers then spritzed the stamp with water before stamping onto Whisper White.  I then spritzed the paper too letting the colours run.  I coloured the stamp again with the markers and over stamped the image.  I coloured the separate grasses stamp again with a marker and stamped around the bottom edges.  To give my bird some definition I used the nib end of my marker and went around it's outline.  I then cut some notches into the edges to distress it a little and attached it to a card stock mat.  It's attached to a Whisper White card base.  The sentiment is from the same stamp set, aren't the fonts fab?

My daughter is off on her Primary 7 trip today.  She was so excited about going as she has been looking forward to it for so long and can remember seeing her big brother off.  Each year the Primary 7's set off for Loch Insh in the Highlands and I think the younger ones always look forward to when it'll be their turn.  A week of water sports, Archery, Skiing (dry slope), mountain biking etc.  No wonder they are excited!  For me it was another milestone, my little girl is now a big girl and this is her turn!

Bye for now from a sappy Mum!  x
