A little Fabulous Florets

Hi Folks

For the first time in ages I've managed to do a card for less is more on the first day of the challenge.  I really enjoyed this weeks challenge as it's to make a birthday card for Jen in her style which I so admire.

I've gone with a Crumb Cake base and a panel of Chocolate Chip (everyone should have chocolate on their birthday) popped up on Dimensionals.  I stamped the fern/leaf from Fabulous Florets in Versamark and embossed in White.  I then wrapped some Pool Party Baker's Twinearound the panel.  I stamped this beautiful flower in Versamark and white embossed on Pretty in Pink.  I fussy cut it out and attached with Dimensionals adding some small Basic Pearls to the middle.  All that was left to do was to add a sentiment from Itty Bitty Banners stamped in Wild Wasabi and cut using the Bitty Banner Framelits.

Hope you had a great birthday Jen!

I'd like to say Hi to my latest follower Julia.  Thanks for joining me here and hope to see you back often.

Want to see a pic of pooch?  Here she is getting bigger and full of confidence!

She's just pinched a leaf and knows I'm going to take it off her.

Hexagon Epic Day

Two cards for two challenges today.  You can see details of the challenges below.

My first card has a naturals card base.  I cut a separate panel and ran it through the Hexagon  embossing folder.  I then cut hexagons from the Epic Day Designer Series Paper and laid them over the panel, popping up a couple for added interest.  I stamped the sentiment from Sassy Salutations Calypso Coral onto another piece of card stock.  The larger hexagon was cut from another piece of Epic Day and popped up on Dimensionals.

I'm pleased with this card but wondered if it had too many layers for Less is More.  Perhaps Chrissie and Jen will let me know if it's not quite less as it should be.  Anyway I decided to have another go and made this second card again using Natural card stock.

I stamped the sentiment first and scored a line  above and below.  I then added some cut hexagons to go above and below and one large one with a smaller one popped up.  The small Hello is from Pretty Petites with the centre punched out using circle punch.

Things are settling down here, well at least they are this week!  Puppy going to bed good and only been up the once during the night the last couple of days at 4am.  So perhaps we are getting there.  My daughter's dance show is past.  My goodness I was completely awe struck when we went in to see them on Saturday.  They were so good.  Holly was only on the once for a Hip Hop Dance but watching the seniors was awesome.

Hope you have had an enjoyable weekend too.  I look forward to catching up this week and paying you a visit.  x

Freshly Made Father's Day Card

Hi I've managed to pop back on whilst Puppy is sleeping.  This is the other card I made yesterday.

I've followed the sketch at Freshly Made Sketches for my father's Day Card.  I started with a 6" by 6" Night of Navy Card.  I've added a mat of Cajun Craze then a panel of More Mustard embossed with the Chevron Folder.  A square of Comfort Cafe Designer Series Papers keeps the chevron theme going. I stamped the sentiment from Teeny Tiny Wishes on a strip of Whisper White and added some Night of Navy.  The car from Need for Speed is stamped in Marina Mist.

Right is back to puppy watch for me.  Take care.  x

Speeding in with a bit of Need for Speed

Oh my things have been so hectic around here lately.  I'll update you at the bottom of the post  if you wish to read on.

So as you'll have guessed my crafting time has been limited but I grabbed some time today and would you believe I made three cards!  I've got two to show you today as they are both for the Less is More challenge this week which is Need for Speed and before you all shout at me what have I spotted?  Yep it's one layer and what have I done?  Yep definitely not one layer so back to the drawing board!!  There I was so pleased with myself.  Ha Ha.

So off I rush back to my super tidy craft room.  (One of my lack of having crafted recently.  I spent a day giving it a really good going over.  It's sooooo tidy now)  And because I want to keep it tidy well everything was put away wasn't it!   There are some arguments for a messy craft room!

Here's my rescue card.  Using another image from Need for Speed the Speedboat.  It's cresting the waves of Happy Birthday wishes.  I stamped the boat in Cherry Cobbler and coloured with my Real Red Stampin' Write Marker.  The birthday sentiment is from Happiest Birthday Wishes and are stamped in Marina Mist.

So the first card is Bashful Blue card stock with a mat of Marina Mist.  I stamped the car in Marina Mist then kept on stamping another 2 times without reinking. Then coloured the car with my Marina Mist Stampin' Write Marker.  I sponged a dust cloud around the car as it was speeding in Crumb Cake with a touch of Real Red.  The sentiment is Teeny Tiny Wishes stamped in Marina Mist.  The main panel is popped up on Dimensionals.

The next card is a Father's Day Card.

I've used a 6" by 6" Night of Navy card stock.  A More Mustard panel popped up on DImensionals.  I added a smaller panel of Whisper White with the jet from Need for Speed stamped in Basic Black and coloured with my Real Red Stampin' Write Marker.   Dad is a sneaky little preview!!  It's from a new stamp set from the new catalogue out in July - Outline Alphabet & Numbers.  I can see this being so useful.  The Happy Father's Day sentiment is also from Teeny Tiny Wishes, another fabulously useful set.  I punched it out with the Modern Label Punch.

Wow 4 cards in one day!  A record!  Hopefully you'll see the other card tomorrow.

So why has my crafting time been so limited.  Well first of all my son has now moved up into 3rd year but before that had 2 days activity.  The second day he was paintballing and I got a call at lunch time to go collect him and take him to A & E.  Cut and grazed knee requiring to be stitched.  Four hours later we limped out.  Me too as I think my bum was numb sitting so long!  We've been back to the hospital this week for it to be checked and he gets the stitch out on Saturday.

Then as it's June every activity my daughter has and including school all have end of term events.  I'm losing track as to where I'm supposed to be and at what times.  I need a P.A. to work out all the logistics!

And lastly we got one of these on Saturday.

Her name is Jess and she is a CavaPoo.  Her Mum is a King Charles Cavalier and her Dad a Miniature Poodle. She's all black except for a few white hairs on her little chin.  At 8 weeks old she is keeping us on toes day and night.  Did you know that the birds are up and awake at 3.30am?

Hope you've survived this extra long post.  I've had blogger starvation!!

See you (hopefully) tomorrow.  x

Stars and Stripes Money Wallets

Hi I'm popping in this evening to share with you Stars and Stripes Money Wallets I've made.  We are off on a very special holiday next month to celebrate my husband's special birthday.  So I made some money wallets for holding our spending dollars.

Each wallet had a Letter It monogram so we know who's is who's.  I kept the design very simple with a belly band to hold it closed.

Here's the wallet open showing the stripes and those all important dollars.  I knew I had a good reason for keeping all those scraps of card stock!

And where exactly are we going? .........New York, New York so good they named it twice!

Thank You Teacher

Hello from a sunny Aberdeen!

I'm sharing my card today for the Less is More challenge which is a colour week.  The ladies at LIM have got the nation all taking photos of their front doors. (What will the neighbours think!! )  As we are to use the colour of our front door.

Here's my door as you can see it's brown but as it's quite an orange brown so I've included some orange in my card.  As it's due to be painted a dark brown I've also got Early Espresso in there.  The touch of grey is from the step.

I decided to make a Teacher Thank You card whilst looking at my new papers - Epic Day - from the This and That Range.  I know it's for my holiday journal but I couldn't resist using some of it to make up a card.  I thought the letters, ruler and numbers were perfect for teacher card.

I've followed the sketch at CASe this Sketch but turned it on it's side.  You can see the sketch at the bottom of my post.  I started with a card base of Crumb Cake and attached a panel of Early Espresso.  I then added some strips of Washi Tape.  Lovely stuff to work with.  Tears easily and peels off easy too!  The beige Washi Tape has numbers on it.  I then cut the letters from Designer Series Paper and attached them with Dimensionals.  The two patterned paper banners are from the same sheet of paper.  Isn't the ruler fab?  I then stamped the sentiment in Calypso Coral on Whisper White.

Just for your info the This and That Range is still available for purchase even though the bundle offer finished at the end of May.

Hope you had a good weekend.  We visited my new nephew on Saturday and had loads of cuddles.  So cute!

Take care.  x
