Thoughts and Prayers

It's never easy making a sympathy card which is why it's handy to have one in your box, ready for when you need it.

I woke up this morning with an idea in my head and I'm happy that it translated into this card.  I started with a Smoky Slate card base and stamped the blossoms in Versamark then heat embossed with white embossing powder.  I added a panel of Pink Pirouette and Whisper White.  The blossom was stamped again in Smoky Slate.  I stamped the sentiment from Teeny Tiny Wishes then added some flowers punched out using Itty Bitty Punches and Basic Pearls.

Hope you have had a good weekend.  The weather has been kind to us and we even got some gardening done.  It was long overdue!

However my happy dance this weekend was when I saw that I was one of the showcase winners at LIM for this card.  Thanks ladies I'm delighted.

This week's theme is FLOWERS so I'd going to pop this card into this week's challenge.  Have a look at the entries over at Less is More they are a fab inspiration.

xx

Happy Mother's Day!

Happy Mother's Day!

I've been truly spoilt this morning.  We have a double celebration today as it is my Mother's birthday as well.  The children and Granny came into my bedroom bearing gifts for both of us and then we were invited down to a specially reserved table for pancakes.  Very yummy they were too!

Now that my Mother has received her card I can show it to you.

I followed the sketch at Freshly Made Sketches which you can see below.

I wanted to use these delicious papers from the Sale-A-Bration set called Sweet Sorbet.  I always seem to fall in love with the papers Stampin' Up! release for Sale-A-Bration!  You can still make them your own by order by tomorrow and when you spend £45 select them for free!

My card base is Sahara Sand and I've used mats of Basic Black for a touch of drama.  I stamped and coloured flowers from Fabulous Florets in Crisp Canteloupe using a Blender Pen.  The leaves are stamped and coloured in Summer Starfruit.  I layered the flowers and leaves together, popping the main flower up on a Dimensional, before attaching to Basic Black and fussy cutting out. The sentiment banner is from Teeny Tiny Wishes and die cut with the Bitty Banners Framelits.  I added a large pearl to the main flower to finish off.

Here's a photo of the middle.  The sentiment is from Occasional Greetings.

You'll know from looking at my blog, I don't normally do layers or use lots of papers but it was so fun to just go for it.  And after all it is for Mother's Day so an extra lush card was in order!

This is my lovely goodies.  My daughter made a card and this beautiful paper sculpture.  My my favourite sweets and can you see the little monkey from my new handbag?

Yummy pancakes!

I hope all you Mum's have been truly spoilt today too!

A little Mosaic Madness

Lack of posts means lots of bizz for me here.

I've really missed my crafting though so managed to squeak in a card for Less is More.  This week's challenge is SAND.  You may be a little confused about my card fitting this challenge.  Well let me explain, I've used Sahara Sand as my card base, one of my fav neutral colours.  Also I've gone with a middle east feel, (lots of sand there!), using Mosaic Madness, one of the new stamp sets that can be found in the new catalogue available to order from now!  This is a fab set with an embossing folder and punch to match.  You can bundle up and save when you buy the stamp set and punch together. I punched out one of the designs in Rich Razzleberry and the middle design is Raspberry Ripple popped up on a Dimensional with a Basic Rhinestone in the centre.  The sentiment comes from Teeny Tiny Wishes.

Lots of news to pass on to you.  Today is the launch of our new Annual Catalogue and it's a winner with loads of new products to choose from.

Freshly Made Father's Day Card

Hi I've managed to pop back on whilst Puppy is sleeping.  This is the other card I made yesterday.

I've followed the sketch at Freshly Made Sketches for my father's Day Card.  I started with a 6" by 6" Night of Navy Card.  I've added a mat of Cajun Craze then a panel of More Mustard embossed with the Chevron Folder.  A square of Comfort Cafe Designer Series Papers keeps the chevron theme going. I stamped the sentiment from Teeny Tiny Wishes on a strip of Whisper White and added some Night of Navy.  The car from Need for Speed is stamped in Marina Mist.

Right is back to puppy watch for me.  Take care.  x

Speeding in with a bit of Need for Speed

Oh my things have been so hectic around here lately.  I'll update you at the bottom of the post  if you wish to read on.

So as you'll have guessed my crafting time has been limited but I grabbed some time today and would you believe I made three cards!  I've got two to show you today as they are both for the Less is More challenge this week which is Need for Speed and before you all shout at me what have I spotted?  Yep it's one layer and what have I done?  Yep definitely not one layer so back to the drawing board!!  There I was so pleased with myself.  Ha Ha.

So off I rush back to my super tidy craft room.  (One of my lack of having crafted recently.  I spent a day giving it a really good going over.  It's sooooo tidy now)  And because I want to keep it tidy well everything was put away wasn't it!   There are some arguments for a messy craft room!

Here's my rescue card.  Using another image from Need for Speed the Speedboat.  It's cresting the waves of Happy Birthday wishes.  I stamped the boat in Cherry Cobbler and coloured with my Real Red Stampin' Write Marker.  The birthday sentiment is from Happiest Birthday Wishes and are stamped in Marina Mist.

So the first card is Bashful Blue card stock with a mat of Marina Mist.  I stamped the car in Marina Mist then kept on stamping another 2 times without reinking. Then coloured the car with my Marina Mist Stampin' Write Marker.  I sponged a dust cloud around the car as it was speeding in Crumb Cake with a touch of Real Red.  The sentiment is Teeny Tiny Wishes stamped in Marina Mist.  The main panel is popped up on Dimensionals.

The next card is a Father's Day Card.

I've used a 6" by 6" Night of Navy card stock.  A More Mustard panel popped up on DImensionals.  I added a smaller panel of Whisper White with the jet from Need for Speed stamped in Basic Black and coloured with my Real Red Stampin' Write Marker.   Dad is a sneaky little preview!!  It's from a new stamp set from the new catalogue out in July - Outline Alphabet & Numbers.  I can see this being so useful.  The Happy Father's Day sentiment is also from Teeny Tiny Wishes, another fabulously useful set.  I punched it out with the Modern Label Punch.

Wow 4 cards in one day!  A record!  Hopefully you'll see the other card tomorrow.

So why has my crafting time been so limited.  Well first of all my son has now moved up into 3rd year but before that had 2 days activity.  The second day he was paintballing and I got a call at lunch time to go collect him and take him to A & E.  Cut and grazed knee requiring to be stitched.  Four hours later we limped out.  Me too as I think my bum was numb sitting so long!  We've been back to the hospital this week for it to be checked and he gets the stitch out on Saturday.

Then as it's June every activity my daughter has and including school all have end of term events.  I'm losing track as to where I'm supposed to be and at what times.  I need a P.A. to work out all the logistics!

And lastly we got one of these on Saturday.

Her name is Jess and she is a CavaPoo.  Her Mum is a King Charles Cavalier and her Dad a Miniature Poodle. She's all black except for a few white hairs on her little chin.  At 8 weeks old she is keeping us on toes day and night.  Did you know that the birds are up and awake at 3.30am?

Hope you've survived this extra long post.  I've had blogger starvation!!

See you (hopefully) tomorrow.  x

Friend to Friend

I got a lovely surprise this morning when I saw my card on Margaret's blog.  Margaret is in the Card Swap Group I'm part of and she was my recipient for May.  Thanks Margaret for your kind words they really gave me a boost this morning!

That means that of course she has received her card and I can now post it here.   It's quite daunting to make a card for other card makers, especially when they are as good as Margaret and the other ladies in the group.

So when I started gathering my thoughts two things came to mind - vellum and embossing.  I decided to combine them.   I reached for my Very Vintage Wheel and embossed it in white on Vellum tearing the edges.  I attached a panel of Elegant Eggplant card behind the Vellum and onto a Crumb Cake base.  The sentiment is from Teeny Tiny Wishes stamped in Elegant Eggplant punched out with the Word Window Punch and a mat of Modern Label in Elegant Eggplant.  For the flower I stamped Mixed Bunch on Perfect Plum in Elegant Eggplant and Clear Embossed it then punched out with the Blossom Punch.   I added some branches from the Bird Builder Punch in Elegant Eggplant.  A few Basic Rhinestones to add a touch of glimmer.

This is actually the third month of the card group so it's about time I got organised and showed you the cards that I've received.

March

Isn't this a fun card?  I love the red and white, the fun tags and that funky font.  Thanks Ann (I don't think Ann has a blog)

April

Just look at this gorgeous background!  I love the script, embossed flowers and the gorgeous layered bloom on the front.  Thanks Zoe

May

Wow this is stunning.  Look at the beautiful delicate butterfly on the background of poppies!  Thanks Sue. (not sure if Sue has a blog either)

Thanks for staying with me in my round up.  A quick Hi and Welcome to my new follower Wendy.

Stampin' Up! Comfort Cafe and Bow Maker

Just popping in this evening to share with you a couple of little cards and a gift.  I made these for my Stamper's 6 Ladies.  I always like to pop in a card and a small gift to say thank you.  This month I made a Bow Makers using Comfort Cafe Designer Series Paper as the decoration.  I found a tutorial that not only shows you how to make them but also how to use them.  You can see it here.

I added a large bow in Crochet Trim which they can attach to their own projects.  The little cards are also decorated with the designer papers and a bow.  This time made with the smaller bow maker.  The templates were attached to a book ring so the Ladies can add their own bow makers in different sizes if they wish to make some up themselves.

On the cards I added a frame from Four Frames punched out with the Decorative Label Punch and popped up on Dimensionals.

Interested in becoming one of my Stamper's 6 Ladies?  Drop me a line in ails300@btinternet.com for more info.

Some Comfort Cafe for your Birthday!

If it happens to be your birthday then this is for you.  Happy Birthday!

I dipped into my Comfort Cafe to make my card.  Doesn't that sound wonderful?  It was actually, it's very comfortable and calming there!

Ok back to reality.  Summer Starfruit is the card base with Pool Party as the hexagon panel and Midnight Muse as the mat for the Very Vanilla Panel.  Pool Party and some of the Comfort Cafe was embossed with the Hexagon Embossing Folder.  I snipped out the patterned paper with my super sharp Paper Snips.  The sentiment is from Teeny Tiny Wishes stamped in Midnight Muse.

Hope you have a fun weekend planned.  Take care.  x

I've made my card today to fit a few challenges.

Create A Cupcake Thank you's

Here's a quick card for you.

This is a little thank you I made up for my Stamper's 6 ladies.  I wonder what they will do with their Cute Clips?

I've used the delightful Baja Breeze and the Create A Cupcake set with matching Builder Punch.  I popped the little heart up on a Dimensional.  I used my Paper Piercing Essentials Mat pack to add a little decoration to the Whisper White panel.  Doesn't the Top Note Bigz Die make a super topper?  So easy to do with little effort.

If you would like to be part of a Stamper's 6 group, take a look at my Virtual Hostess Page to see all the details and benefits.  You can add your name to the next group.

Bordering on Romance in Rose Red

Hi Crafty Peeps!  Hope you are having a lovely weekend.  I've found some time in between trying to tidy my craft space to make a card for Less is More which this week has a sketch to follow.  See below.

I had a picture in my head of using ruffled ribbon so reached for my Rose Red Seam Binding.  I chose a Rose Red card base and a dramatic mat of Basic Black.  I wanted to use a Ribbon Slide (retired) but with bling added to the middle so attached 3 Basic Rhinestones.  Thankfully they come in a strip so wasn't difficult to attach to the centre post.  I stamped the flowers from Bordering on Romance in Basic Black and used a Blender Pen to colour it in with Rose Red, Certainly Celery and Regal Rose.  I added a touch of Frost White Shimmer Paint to the flowers for a touch of sparkle.  The sentiment from Teeny Tiny Wishes is stamped in Rose Red.

Now to ruffle the ribbon I pulled a thread from the middle, (actually I pulled several because I kept pulling them all the way through!)  Doh!!  How to stop it unruffling was the next challenge.  I tried singeing the end but only succeeded in setting the ribbon on fire!  So in the end I've tucked the ribbon behind the panel stuck down with Red Sticky Strip.  My husband came in and wondered what on earth I'd been doing with the matches!!

I'm off to rid the house of a burning smell now.  Keep crafting but stay safe!  (Don't play with matches!!) x

Mixed Bunch All Dressed Up

I spotted the challenge at Runway Inspired this week and wanted to join in.  See photo below.

I've used Mixed Bunch to create a floral pattern.  I added some leaves from the Bird Builder Punch.  The smaller flowers are punched out with 1" Circle Punch popped up on Dimensionals.  I added the sentiment from Teeny Tiny Wishes in Real Red.

Mixed Bunch is a lovely set of stamps which make it so easy to create stunning designs.  One of the many reasons that attracted me to Stampin' Up!  If you love Stampin' Up! also, you may consider joining as a hobby demo or more.  Now until the 30th May you receive an extra £25 in products in your starter kit.  So this is a great time to join.  I would love you on my team!

Thanks for your visit.  x

Mother's Day Card and some Scrapbooking

As promised I'm showing you today the card we made on Friday at my Sale-A-Bration party.

I was telling the ladies that the inspiration for the middle panel came from seeing a glass jewellery box on display in Marks & Spencer for Mother's Day.  They are all going in to check!  Probably looks nothing like the original as it was from memory.  Next time I'll take a photo when I see inspiration.  Wonder what the staff would think?

Onto the card.  This could be a Mother's day card or a birthday.  We used the Label Collections Framelits to die cut some Pink Pirouette and Whisper White.  We then embossed the Pink Pirouette with the Honeycomb Embossing Folder.  The frame was popped up on Dimensionals.  We then had fun stamping the middle pieces using stamps from 4 stamp sets.  The bird cage has some paper piercing to hang it from.  The sentiment is from Teeny Tiny Wishes and punched out using the Word Window Punch then attached to a Modern Label punch out.  A small Basic Rhinestone finishes it off.

This second card was shown as a simpler example.

Next we made a 6" by 6" scrapbook page using stamps, Designer Series Papers and the little punch from this years Sale-A-Bration.

I've listed the supplies below.

It was wonderful to see the different variations that everyone came up with.  They were all fantastic even though no-one had scrapbooked before.  I now need to make this up into a 12" by 12" page to go into our New York album.  We are sitting in Central Park in case you are wondering.

Lastly a big Hi to Morag thanks for following my little blog!  Hope you have all had some crafty fun this weekend.  xx
