Feeling Sentimental about wheels

Two posts from me in one day!  This time, two cards for two challenges.

Less is More this week has a theme of round and round and Addicted to CAS has a code word of wheels.

With a first glance at my cards you may think mmmm how does this fit in with the challenges?  Ha you'll need to look closely.   The stamp I've used is the Penny Farthing from Feeling Sentimental.  Honest it is!

On the first card I coloured the wheels with my Crushed Curry Stampin' Write Marker and stamped onto Whisper White.  I then cut out the wheels.  On the large flower I added petals by punching out Summer Starfruit card stock using the Banner Punch and attaching to the back.  The stem is some green cardstock from my millions of scraps!  I used a Smoky Slate card base and added a panel stamped with the Hardwood stamp also in Smoky Slate.  The panel has the corners rounded.  I chose a simple For You sentiment from Itty Bitty Banners and die cut with the matching framelit.

What's your thoughts?

Onto my second card.  When I stamped the wheel the first time it immediately looked like a slice of lemon.  So I decided to go with the flow and make this card.

This time the card base is Crushed Curry.  I added a sentiment from Perfect Preserved stamped in Calypso Coral and die cut with the Banners Framelits.  I curled the ends with my paper snips.

Once again I coloured the wheel from Feeling Sentimental in Crushed Curry and cut out.  I then snipped a cut up to the centre.  I stamped the jar from Perfectly Preserved in Sahara Stone and fussy cut out.  To make it look like the lemon is in the jar, I snipped along the rim so I could tuck the lemon slice in.  Before doing this I stamped the wheel onto the jar in Summer Starfruit after stamping off first.  Now it looks like you can see the lemon through the glass!  I used my Aqua Pen to add a little watered down Summer Starfruit to the inside of the jar.  I tied Calypso Coral 1/8" taffetta ribbon around the top of the jar.  Then to help ground the image I added a strip of Washi Tape along the bottom of the card from Epic Day.  I slightly rounded the jar and attached to the card with Dimensionals.

Now the big question is - When the world throws you lemons, do you make a g & t or lemonade?

I'll leave you to decide what's in the jar!!

Feeling Sentimental - Masculine

Good morning Peeps!

It's a lovely sunny day here in the frozen north!  For once got a decent photo of my card.

I've followed two challenges today -
CASe this sketch - sketch below
Addicted to CAS - codeword Masculine

Here's how I made the card.

I started with a Pumpkin Pie base.  Then embossed my panel of Early Espresso with the Chevron Folder.  I cut a rectangle of Very Vanilla and decided the telephone box from Feeling Sentimental (Sale-A-Bration 2013) was the perfect shape.  I followed my trusty Colour Coach and stamped it in Daffodil Delight.  With artistic license we can have our telephone boxes in any colour, right? Then I corner rounded the top two corners to mimic the box.  I stamped the sentiment from Teeny Tiny Wishes in Pumpkin Pie.  To give an added warm glow I sponged some Pumpkin Pie around the edges.  Then popped the panel up on some Dimensionals.

I think this looks suitably masculine but i hope it's CAS enough.

Have a lovely day folks and I hope it's sunny where you are too! x

A Trio of Blackboard Technique Cards

This is the card I made at a recent workshop.  A bit of blackboard technique which seems to be the rage at the moment.  Using lots of Sale-A-Bration products so the ladies could have a proper play with all the new goodies.

For the one above I used Bloomin' Marvelous.

This one uses Pennant Parade words, Hearts A Flutter and Vintage Verses.

A different direction and Feeling Sentimental with Vintage Verses on this one.  I also showed how you could bling it up by popping the little Pretty Petites on Dimensionals and adding Basic Rhinestones

Once I had shown the ladies how to make the card using an Embossing Buddy to get that chalky look on the blackboard they were left to make up their card using any of the stamp sets.  The results were amazing.  Some preferred crisp and clean so didn't chalk and each card was completely different.

The banners were made from Sycamore Street Designer Papers and cut out with the Hearts A Flutter Framelits.  Island Indigo Bakers Twine bows attached with mini glue dots finish off the banner effect.

I came downstairs today to the smell of cooking.  Wondering what was going on I went into the kitchen to find my Daughter and her Granny making pancakes for Shrove Tuesday.  Did you know it was pancake day?  I would have taken a photo but they were so yum they disappeared too fast.

Happy Pancake Day everyone. x

Feeling Sentimental about the Big Wheel

Well not really.  I don't mind the Big Wheel and love Roller Coasters but I can't do the Waltzers, that goes for my tummy.  All that spinning round.  I only just managed to do the Tea Cups at Disney!

A monochromatic card for you today following the colours over at Dynamic Duos - Soft Suede and Crumb Cake.

The vintage images from Sale-A-Bration's Feeling Sentimental look fab in the neutral colours.  I stamped the Big Wheel in Soft Suede and mounted it onto a mat of the same colour.  I stamped the sentiment from the same set in Crumb Cake then used my marker to draw some birds in the top corner.  We have a fun beach in Aberdeen which has a Big wheel  and there are always seagulls around so just had to add some here.

As I've used a marker I'm going to add this into CASual Fridays which for this week is Make Your Mark.

It's been a very bright sunny day today but also cold and windy.  And we have grass again.  Almost all the snow is gone and all that is left of my daughter's snowman are 2 grapes and a carrot.  She thought it was very funny that they still made a face on the grass!

Keep warm, Keep safe, Keep crafting. xx

Another sneak peek at Sale-A-Bration 2013

I have another sneak peek for you from Sale-A-Bration 2013 again using the Feeling Sentimental stamp set.

I've used it on my card for the Less is More challenge this week which is One Layer with a theme of Sport or Exercise.

I'm sure we would all like to lose a few pounds (or a lot more in my case) after Christmas.  I'm sure you would burn heaps of calories on this old Penny Farthing.  Just getting up on it for one thing!!  At the Alford Transport Museum they have a Penny Farthing bolted to the floor with a step ladder so you can have a shot of sitting on it. A bit too high up for me I like to be able to get my feet on the ground.

My card is very simple so not a lot to tell really.  The sentiment was printed onto a Whisper White card base using my PC and the font is Giddyup STD.  Then the image was stamped in Old Olive.  I scored a pattern along the bottom to ground the image and sentiment.

Well no real snow yet.  We did have a bit of sleet earlier so i think we will head out for a while.

Have a great weekend. x

Sneak Peek for Sale-A-Bration 2013

Yes I've got a sneak peek for you today.  I've used one of the new Sale-A-Bration sets on my card.  Stampin' Up! Sale-A-Bration happens once a year and this year is a biggy!  Stampin' Up! is celebrating it's 25th anniversary this year so they have added in a little extra so you can celebrate too!  Be sure to join us when the party starts on 22nd January.

So onto my card.  These stamps are from Feeling Sentimental.  And don't they just do that?  You don't see many red telephone boxes anymore.  I've hinted at the red using my Real Red Stampin' Write Marker, just picking up a couple of areas.  I then added a strip of Basic Black embossed with the Square Lattice Embossing Folder to give it a grounding.  Then a little bit of detail using 1/8" Taffetta ribbon and a heart punched out of Red Glimmer Paper using the Owl Punch

This is a super set for masculine cards and is free during sale-a-bration when you spend £45.  Be sure to mark the date in you calendar I'm sure you'll want to take part.

My card fits nicely into the challenge at Less is More this week which is Black and White with a touch of colour.

We took down our decorations today, gosh the living room looks big!  Happy weekend everyone! x
