Born to .........

......Ride or rather Craft in my case.  Of course crafting covers everything from cards to baking, sewing, and even knitting.

But first let's look at my card.

For my Hubby's birthday I made this card and as he's a biker, One Wild Ride was perfect. Have you seen it in the Annual Catalogue?  It's super cool.

To create the little scene I teamed up the motorbike with Sheltering Tree.  I chose some autumnal colours for my tree using So Saffron and Pumpkin Pie. A few sponged clouds help finish it off.

Speaking of Autumn...... Can you believe we are now in September?

The bad news may be the end of Summer but the good news is our Autumn/Winter mini catalogue is here.  Check it out on my side bar.  Loads of scummy goodies in there to keep you busy during the dark evenings.

We've also got some cracking sales to have a look at.  25% off certain items until 21st September but keep checking back because it changes each week.

So back to other hobbies.

Check out the little cardie I made for our gorgeous little granddaughter.  It only took me 14 years!  Yep you heard right! I started it for my daughter (who is now 14), but never got it finished before she grew too big so it was put away.  With the news of our new addition I got the pins out and finished it in time for Niamh.

I'll leave you with a picture of Niamh in the cardie.

Isn't she just the cutest?

Take care xx

14 and Simply Sassy!

My daughter turned 14 last weekend.  So grown up! It's a bit scary really, well for Mum and Dad!

I always like to do a special card for her birthday and decided to choose this rather Sassy lady to colour using my Copic Sketch pens.

Isn't she fab?  I've teamed her with Stampin' Up! products.  A stamped panel using Flower Shop In Basic Grey, Wisteria Wonder and Pear Pizzazz.  I then added a sentiment tag using Number of Years and the corresponding framelits. This set is super for adding numbers to your cards.

We took my daughter and her friends to Blair Drummond Safari Park for her birthday.  It was a brilliant day out.  The girls had a ball.  My daughter had a schedule all worked out so all my husband and I needed to do was have the picnic ready for them coming back to the car and of course being taxi drivers.

This weekend she is off on a Guiding camp.  Must be great being 14!!!

You Rock using Stampin' up!

You Rock!

Just saying cos you're here visiting me!

My card today is for Less is More using white space that's not white!

The card I've made started out differently in my head then evolved.  I'm very pleased with the end result but during the middle of the process was quite dubious.  Does that happen to you?

Here's the lowdown.

Start with a card base of Cherry Cobbler.
Cut a panel of Crumb Cake the same size as the front.  Punch out 3 little stars from the corner using Itty Bitty Accents.
Add freestyle paper pierced pattern around the edge.
Distress the edge with my Paper Snips.
Attach a panel of Cherry Cobbler the same size as Crumb Cake top panel.
Use Star Framelits to cut a large star out of top panel.
Cut a smaller star for insert.
Attach top panel with Dimensionals
Use the punch to add a silver star to middle.
Add Basic Rhinestones to the smaller stars.
Stamp sentiment from Crazy About You with Night of Navy.

I love using Cherry Cobbler. It's such a deep velvety red. Very lush and it goes very well with Crumb Cake. And no white used at all!

Hope you like.

Happy Valentine's Day - Bloomin' Love

Happy Valentine's Day

From the new Spring/Summer catalogue comes Bloomin' Love.

I made this for my hubby so toned down the girly look by choosing Crumb Cake and Garden Green as my colour palette. Notice the designer paper matches the stamped border.  Love how easy it is to co-ordinate with Stampin' Up!

The heart was die cut twice, once in Garden Green and again in Whisper White.  I then snipped the white flowers and added them in to the green heart.   You could then embellish the flowers further but I didn't want it too frilly.

Loving the delicate lacy feel to the heart but even more so that it is made up of flowers and leaves.

Are you enjoying a lovely box of chocs or perhaps a glass of bubbly, maybe going out for dinner with you loved one?  No, me neither, on a stupid diet!

Ah well a beautifully made card doesn't put calories on! Lol!

Let it Snow

Have you got your sparkle on?

This snowman looks so cosy in the snowy woods with his ear muffs on.  He's definitely got his sparkle on with this glimmer paper border. The trees are embossed on Night of Navy and sponged with Whisper White to give a snowy forest look.

Way behind making my Christmas cards but I prefer to be a half glass full person so really I'm way ahead of the curve for next year!!

Congrats to you two - Your Perfect Day

So simple and so elegant!

This is a 6" by 6" card that I made for a wedding card. It has a mat of So Saffron card stock with an oval of Whisper White.  The wedding cake from Your Perfect Day (retired) is stamped in So Saffron with tiny pearls added.  I used a couple of nesting oval frailest from my stash to cut it out.  I wrapped some Whisper White satin ribbon around the mat.

Did you know you can easily colour this ribbon using your ink pads?

The sentiment was stamped in Sahara Sand and the little border flowers were stamped in Daffodil Delight.

What do you think?  Easy peasy?

Take care. x

Something For........Father's Day

Remember this tie?  I used it on my last card, a baby card!  Not surprising really as it's a set called Something For Baby. Isn't great when you can use your sets for other occassions? When I used the tie last time I thought it would make a super male card.  So here it is.

I used the In Colours.  You know they are all going to go together so no extra thought required.  Its easy peasy.

I stamped my ties on Whisper White and die cut an extra one using the Baby's First Framelits.  I cut the little heart and added the tie then popped it up on Dimensionals.

I added a little extra texture by scoring three lines along the top.  I then matted this onto Lost Lagoon card stock.  I turned to Crazy About You to add my sentiment.  This set is in the Spring/Summer Catalogue and is available in wood, clear and photopolymer.  I used the photopolymer which made it so easy to line up.

Here's a pic of the middle.  You can't see easily from the photo but I added the scored lines down the side of the whisper white panel.

I know it's a long time till Father's Day but that's what the card spoke to me.  Does that happen to you?

I'm looking out on a very snowy scene with us today and cold North Sea winds.  It's Brrrrrr!

Stay cosy and keep crafting!.  x

Edit: Thanks to Valerie I'm going to pop this over to Moo Mania which  has a masculine theme.

Stampin' Up!'s Something For Baby

How's your Saturday?

I've had a very relaxing day and had some time to potter about in my crafty area.  We will have to brave the snowy weather though as we have tickets to go to the theatre to see Shrek tonight.  Can't wait!

I didn't manage to join in last week at Less is More but have followed the sketch for this week's theme of Little ones.
This said babies to me.

I've started with a Soft Sky base and added a mat of Whisper White embossed with the Square Lattice Embossing Folder. I then stamped onto a strip of Whisper White using the elements from Something For Baby. I snipped the bottom to give a ribbon effect and distressed the edges. The little duck was cut out with the matching framelits, Baby's First and popped up on a dimensional.  Love it when you can get matching framelits and punches to the stamp sets.  It makes it all so easy!  I stamped and free cut the little heart to adorn my little duck.

So that's a baby boy card to go into my box ready for a happy event!

Right time to hussle up the gang and get our Shrek on.  x

A cute little thank you

This was my little thank you for my Stamper's 6 club the other  month.

I had so much fun making this little treat tag.  I used the treat cups and the Chalk Talk Framelits.  The designer series paper is from the beautiful Park Lane set.  I complimented it with Old Olive card stock and this gorgeous Calypso Coral Chevron Ribbon. It makes a little gift amazing.

For the little card I just added some scallop circles and the sentiment from Itty Bitty Banners.

I used skittles in my treat cups but I'm sure you can be very creative with what you fill them with.

Have a great day.  xx

A Pink and Silver Christmas

A happy wonderful Christmas at the beginning of November.

How many cards have you got ready for the festive?  I need all the help I can get.  So it's great to join in with challenges to get the old Christmas mojo going!  Less is More has a challenge this week for a non traditional coloured Christmas card.  I've gone with pink and silver.

I used the new Wondrous Wreath from the Autumn Winter Catalogue.  It's 3 step stamping and the set of stamps have a convenient tag at the top to help line up the images.

The sentiment and bow are also from the same set.  I cut out using the Wondrous Wreath Framelits.  The glittery banner was cut with the Banner Framelits.

I finished off with a Basic Rhinestone on the bow.

Well I suppose Christmas is just around the corner.  It is certainly getting a bit chillier!  So time to get organised.

Scallop Tag Hello

Hello!

I just had to have a go at a Scallop Tag Topper card.  There's lots of tutorials on the net for this.

I've made a bright and cheery Hello card using I Am Me Designer Series Paper.  I used Perfect Pennants for the sentiment details in colours matching the papers.  The banners were cut out using the matching framelits.  I added decoration behind the Scallop Tag Topper detail using Simply Stars.

I sent this card off to a lovely customer who had just recently purchased the Scallop Tag Topper Punch.  I hope it gave her some inspiration!

Now go change the World!

Last wednesday we were at the graduation of my step son.  Very proud to see him receive his degree!

This is the card I made for him.  He is very keen on travel and is interested into going into renewables energy.

I used this map image from I Am Me Designer Series Paper out of the last catalogue.  Teamed it up with a mat of Real Red on a Basic Black card base.  I then made a banner using another paper from the same sets and the Banner Framelits.  The sentiment is from Something to Say, as are the stars. I used a couple of circle punched to create a mat for part of the sentiment and the Word Window Punch for the other.  The Itty Bitty Accents Punch Pack was perfect to punch out the stars. To finish off the banner I added a couple of black candy dots.

It was exciting to see all the young graduates setting out on their new paths and adventures.  Perhaps they will change the world.
A very pleased Michael and proud Dad.

Fabulous Florets Blended

Hello Crafty Peeps!

I have another playing about card using new products to show you.

This months card swap club had a stipulation of a cut out to the front.  I chose to make a fancy edge by cutting the Fabulous Florets flowers.

I stamped the flower in Crumb Cake then coloured them using  Stampin' Up!'s new Blendabilities - Cherry Cobbler, Coastal Cabanna and Rich Razzleberry.  I tried out 3 different ways to colour.  Cherry Cobbler was coloured completely light, then adding in medium and finally dark then again in light. Rich Razzleberry was coloured the opposite way.  Dark to light.  Coastal Cabanna was coloured using a flicking stroke first in dark then adding medium and finally light leaving some of the white.

This shows the card closed.  I added the leaf pattern to the inside. The card base is Crumb Cake and the sentiment is stamped in the same and is from Perfect Pennants.  It was die cut using the Banners Framelits.  For added sparkle I've attached a Basic Rhinestone to each of the flowers.

Only 6 days and counting until the new catalogue.  Can't wait!   Lots of new stamps to try out my new pens on.  Along with other goodies I'm sure you will love.

I went for a long walk today (An hour and a half!) and was lucky enough to see some deer at the Den of Maidencraig, which is a local nature reserve just on the outskirts of Aberdeen. You really have to look hard as they are so well camouflaged. I only saw them because a man, also walking his dog, pointed them out.  Sadly he said that the whole area is ear marked for houses.  Where will the deer go? :(

Take care until next time.  x
