Summer Silhouettes in Crushed Curry

Dashing in tonight with a card for this week's Less is More.  We have been given an absolutely stunning photo for our colour inspiration this week. 

I've in part followed the composition as well as the colours.  

I've used Naturals White for my card base.  I love using this with Stampin' Up!'s Summer Silhouettes.  I cut 3 pieces of Whisper White of different sizes.  Then stamped the flowers in Smoky Slate, Crushed Curry and Basic Black.  The middle panel is popped up on Dimensionals.  I added a strip of Basic Black card and Sahara Sand.  Again I've used the sentiment from So Happy For You (retired) it just seemed to fit so well.  Always hang onto your sentiment sets they come in so handy. 

We've been to a christening this morning.  Early rise for all!   My niece surprised us all by singing Adele's Make you Feel My Love for her sister's baby.  Not a dry eye!  She was wonderful.   So was baby too I might add.

Flowers from the Heart

One of my favourite challenges is less is more and one of the first things I checked on our return was the new challenge. 

The theme is handmade flowers and the entries look awesome.  

I've gone very simple as my time is so limited and made some flowers by using the small heart punch with a doodled stem and a Basic Rhinestone for the centre.  The sentiment is from a sweet retired Sale-A-Bration set called So Happy For You.  The font suited these simple flowers.  

I hope to catch up with you all very soon as my house work settles down and we get back into a normal routine. 

But before I go here's a pic of hubby and daughter at the Top of the Rock.  You can see the Empire State Building on the far left.

Whole Bunch of Punches!

Isn't this little owl sweet?

He was stamped in Early Espresso from the Punch Bunch.   Then punched out using the 2 Step Owl Punch.  Although this stamp is no longer available you can still get the same effect using the punch as it punches out the eyes and the vest.  On this card his vest was punched out of Play Date Designer Series Paper.  I used the Full Heart Extra-Large Punch to place a Marina Mist heart behind the owl.  The Old Olive branch is from the 2 Step Bird Punch.  The Whisper White background is attached to Marina Mist card which I've edged with the Scallop Edge Border Punch.  The sentiment is from So Happy For You punched out with the Word Window Punch then mounted onto Marina Mist card punched out Modern Label Extra-Large. The card base is Bashful Blue.

It always handy to have a few thank you's in your card bundle, you never know when you might need one.

More of Funky Forest

If you saw my previous post you'll know I've been having a play with the wheels.  This one is called Funky Forest and my friend left it with me after our crafting session yesterday so I could play some more.  

The original card I made yesterday for less is more is shown next as a rescue card.  This one is my second attempt at this design.  The challenge is to make a one layer card with a frame. 

I used a Whisper White card base and masked off an area to roller the trees in Old Olive.  I then made a dotty frame using an Old Olive marker pen.  The center was sponged with Old Olive and Real Red.  

Thanks was stamped below in Old Olive from the So Happy For You set. 

And here is my rescue card.  I cut out the central image and mounted it onto Old Olive card.  The was placed onto a Whisper White background using dimensionals with the sentiment stamped below. This was then attached to an Old Olive card base. 

 I like the way that they have both come out.  Hope wherever you are you are having a great day and finding some time to craft. x

Cakes and Pearls

Today's card is On a Pedestal and I've gone very girly.  Let's face it, us girls like a bit of cake especially on a special occasion.

The card base is Concord Crush.  I've layered a piece of Blushing Bride patterned paper on top.  The patterned paper is from the In Colour 6" by 6" stack.  Each of the papers is double sided and there are 12 sheets of each colour.  The best part is you can earn this stack free as a hostess gift. 

I stamped the pedestal in Concord Crush and added six basic pearls.  Then using my Stampin' Write Markers I coloured the cake with Concord Crush and Blushing Bride for the icing. I used my Stamp-a-ma-jig to position it and added a cherry to the top to finish off.  I mounted the Whisper White panel onto a Concord Crush rectangle which had been edged with the Scallop Trim Border punch.

The sentiment is from So Happy For You and this was stamped in Concord Crush and punched out using the Decorative Label Punch.  To add a layer to the label I punched out a second label from Blushing Bride Card, cut it in half then attached this to the back of the Whisper White label.

Monkeying Around

A quick post tonight to share a fun card.  This card is on pear pizzazz and the central panel is mounted onto chocolate chip.  I stamped the monkey from Fox and Friends in chocolate chip ink on whisper white card, linking their tails using my stamp-a-ma-jig.  The heart is from the So Happy For You set and I covered it with crystal effects.  The "Thinking of You" is from Silhouette Sentiments with a line drawn at either side.

Happy 21st Michael!   This card is for my step son who turns 21 tomorrow.  We are all going out for a meal tonight to celebrate.  Mmmm can't wait! 

The card is a 6" by 6", a new size for me.  I started off with basic black card stock cut down from a 12" by 12" sheet.  Covered the front panel with bashful blue.  Then using the square punches, I punched out nine squares in pacific point.  I covered these in smaller squares from the celebrations designer papers.  I then used my cricut machine to cut out Michael 21 in pacific point and popped them onto the squares.  Finally stamped birthday wishes in bashful blue around the edges.

Less Is More Single Layer Card

Well this weeks challenge from Less is More certainly got me thinking.  The card had to be one layer with a theme of flowers or trees.

I knew what I wanted to do however I haven't made a card using a white base and have never made one as one layer before either so wasn't sure how it would work out.   Onto the card that I made -

Using whisper white as my card base I teamed up Baja Breeze and Not Quite Navy.  First of all I punched out a scallop square in scrap paper to act as a mask and sponged the edges with Baja Breeze.  The flower was centered in the middle of each one using my Stamp-a-ma-jig and is from the Sale-A-Bration set Sweet Summer.  I used a blender pen to colour the flowers with Baja Breeze.  The sentiment is from another Sale-A-Bration set  - So Happy For You.  Both the flowers and the sentiment were inked with the Not Quite Navy.  

Certainly this makes for a very inexpensive card!

Very easy Valentine's Card

This card was so easy to do and isn't necessarily just for valentine's.  It would also make a good birthday card or anniversary card.  I deliberately didn't put a sentiment on so I can decide later.  

The colours are chocolate chip, old olive and poppy parade.  The owl is from the Sale-A-Bration set Punch Bunch.  (the owl punch will be available when the new mini catalogue comes out in April) I lined the second owl up next to the first by using a Stamp-a-ma-jig.  The branch they are sitting on is punched using the 2 step bird punch. The scallop edge border gives a nice trim to the bottom of the old olive card.  The two little hearts are stamped using the So happy For You set, another free set available during Sale-A-Bration.

Sweet Summer in January!

This card uses the Sweet Summer set from the current Sale-A-Bration Event.  I was having a play with it, trying out the new stamps, and rather than throw away the results decided to mount the images and make them into a card.  

The card base is perfect plum and the mounts are the In Colours - pear pizzazz and concord crush.  I love the way the In Colours co-ordinate together.

Sale-A-Bration Workshop

The above card was the Make and Take at my friends workshop on Sunday.  Thanks very much ladies for a brill afternoon.  It was great fun and a super laugh.  I hope you all enjoyed it as much as I did. 

Everyone had a chance to use some of the Sale-A-Bration stamp sets.  The Sweet Summer set allowed their own creativity to come through as they could choose the images they wanted to stamp on the whisper white.  Also they could swap the colour combo of chocolate chip, poppy parade, and pear pizzazz around.  The border was punched using Scallop Trim and again everyone had the option to use any of the border punches.  For the sentiments on the front, we used the Punch Bunch set and for the middle we used the So Happy for You set.

  

I said at the start that they would all be making different cards and I wasn't wrong as each card turned out to be individual works of art.  They were all fab! 

Here are some more examples that I have made to show variety.  

I used dimensionals to pop each layer of the true friend sentiment.

For this card I used crumb cake, real red, and old olive.  The flowers and birds were coloured using the pastels and a blender pen.  I punched out the middle of the for you sentiment and popped it on to a real red scallop circle. 

This card uses the In Colours - Pear Pizzazz, Concord Crush and Peach Parfait.
