Friend to Friend

I got a lovely surprise this morning when I saw my card on Margaret's blog.  Margaret is in the Card Swap Group I'm part of and she was my recipient for May.  Thanks Margaret for your kind words they really gave me a boost this morning!

That means that of course she has received her card and I can now post it here.   It's quite daunting to make a card for other card makers, especially when they are as good as Margaret and the other ladies in the group.  

So when I started gathering my thoughts two things came to mind - vellum and embossing.  I decided to combine them.   I reached for my Very Vintage Wheel and embossed it in white on Vellum tearing the edges.  I attached a panel of Elegant Eggplant card behind the Vellum and onto a Crumb Cake base.  The sentiment is from Teeny Tiny Wishes stamped in Elegant Eggplant punched out with the Word Window Punch and a mat of Modern Label in Elegant Eggplant.  For the flower I stamped Mixed Bunch on Perfect Plum in Elegant Eggplant and Clear Embossed it then punched out with the Blossom Punch.   I added some branches from the Bird Builder Punch in Elegant Eggplant.  A few Basic Rhinestones to add a touch of glimmer. 

This is actually the third month of the card group so it's about time I got organised and showed you the cards that I've received.

Mixed Bunch gets Spritzed and Sponged

Less is More this week is the dreaded one layer and we've been asked to use a coloured card base.  Yeh I thought, Kraft looks great with embossing or colouring on, but no before you rush in check the small print!  No white, cream/ivory , black or yep you guessed it KRAFT!!

So I've chosen Bashful Blue for my card base.  I spritzed it with some Marina Mist and a little Frost White Shimmer Paint.  I then stamped the sentiment from Curly Cute in Night of Navy.  I chose this gorgeous intricate flower from Mixed Bunch and embossed in silver.  I used my Blender Pen to add some Night of Navy to the centres.  I sponged around the edges with Marina Mist and Night of Navy.  To finish a single a Basic Rhinestone to the main flower.

It's not my usual style but I thought it would be interesting to combine a grungy/vintage look with this sophisticated elegant flower.  What do you think?

Mixed Bunch All Dressed Up

I spotted the challenge at Runway Inspired this week and wanted to join in.  See photo below.  

I've used Mixed Bunch to create a floral pattern.  I added some leaves from the Bird Builder Punch.  The smaller flowers are punched out with 1" Circle Punch popped up on Dimensionals.  I added the sentiment from Teeny Tiny Wishes in Real Red. 

Mixed Bunch is a lovely set of stamps which make it so easy to create stunning designs.  One of the many reasons that attracted me to Stampin' Up!  If you love Stampin' Up! also, you may consider joining as a hobby demo or more.  Now until the 30th May you receive an extra £25 in products in your starter kit.  So this is a great time to join.  I would love you on my team!

Mixed Bunch at Less is More

Well survived the bows and arrows (see previous post).  It was lots of fun, kids did really well.  Ross especially, he got 4 golds and one right in the centre.  He's really taken to it.  Holly got one gold.  As beginners we weren't shooting the full range distance but they still did pretty well.  Yeh I know you are dying to ask what did Mum get? Well ever heard the saying "couldn't hit a barn door!"  Ok not quite as bad as that, I did hit the blue (it goes gold, red, blue, black, white).  My arrows saw a lot of white! Oh and some straw and the floor....... 

Anyhoos lets talk about my card.  This is for Less is More which has an interesting challenge this week.  You can either CASe Jen's card or Chrissie's or a mix of both.  Both are great.  I've gone with Jen's card because I recently made a card using the technique on Chrissie's. You can see Jen's below. 

I loved the Crumb Cake and Pool Party together but as I wanted to colour the petals on my flower and don't have a Pool Party marker I made my card with Baja Breeze.  I embossed my Mixed Bunch flower in White Embossing Powder then punched out with the Blossom Punch.  Added a silver brad to the middle.  Instead of piercing I used my White Gel Pen to add some faux stitching around the edge of the Crumb Cake panel.  The ribbon banner is Pool Party with an Itty Bitty Banner sentiment which is White Embossed.

Mixed Bunch Birthday Card Class

The card I have to share with you is one we made at last weeks card class.  We used Mixed Bunch and the co-ordinating Blossom Punch. 

We started with a card base and front panel of Concord Crush and corner rounded the edges.  Then using the Blossom Punch we punch out a blossom shape from the front panel.  Then ran it through the Perfect Polka Dot Embossing Folder.  A square of Pumpkin Pie Brights Designer Paper was attached to the card base so that it would show through the shape.  Using one of the smaller stamps from Mixed Bunch we stamped and punched out a centre in Pear Pizzazz.  The embossed panel and the flower centre are all popped up on Dimensionals.  A second flower was stamped and punched out in Pumpkin Pie.  The sentiment is from Happiest Birthday Wishes and is stamped in Pear Pizzazz and punched out with the Modern Label. 

I love the Mixed Bunch stamp set and the matching punch.  It's a great bundle to have and you can see how many times I've used it by looking at the Mixed Bunch label at the side.  I also can't enthuse enough about the Hostess set Happiest Birthday Wishes.  It really is worth having a party to get this set for free.  Of course you don't need to have a party because any order of £150 entitles you to hostess pounds.  If you fancy having a party or virtual party then please get in touch.

Mixed Bunch for Christmas!

This is my first Christmas card for 2012.  I'm actually quite late in starting as it'll creep up on us so fast! 

I've followed the sketch at Freshly Made Sketches.  

I was pleased to see the central shape as I love the Top Note Die.   

Do you see my snowflake?  It's actually one of the Mixed Bunch Flowers stamped in Versamark and embossed in White Embossing Powder.  The smaller snowflake was made using the same stamp but by only inking up the centre using a Versamark Pen. 

Once embossed I then had fun getting inky.  I first of all used my Watercolour Pencils to add a little colour within the snowflakes and then used my Aqua Painter to pull the colour around.  I spritzed the background with my Spritzer Tool using Bashful Blue and Marina Mist Stampin' Write Markers.  Then I sponged around the edges and into the snowflakes with Bashful Blue, Marina Mist and Tempting Turquoise using Sponge Daubers. 

The side panel is Whisper White embossed with Perfect Polka Dots adding a flash of Real Red edged with the Scallop Edge Border Punch.  

For my sentiment tag, I used a Real Red Stampin' Write Marker to ink up part of sentiment stamp from Welcome Christmas.  The 1 1/4" Square Punch made the flag tag on the end. 

Mixed Bunch is in the Summer Mini Catalogue which finishes on the 31st August.  It also has a punch that matches it.  Not all items make it into the main catalogue so if you have seen some favourites, please get in touch.

Blossoms in the Garden

Gardens are on the brain just now.  We are in the middle of having our back garden landscaped.  It's a muddy mess at the moment as the digger has been in to level off our varying slopes.  I'm really excited though to see the finished result. 

So onto my card.  I've followed the sketch at Freshly Made Sketches.  

I've also used my catalogue for ideas.  On page 97 there are examples of cards using Beyond the Garden Designer Series Paper.  The papers are so vibrant, with gorgeous designs, they stand so well on their own.  Like the examples, I've also used Crumb Cake as my base.  I matted a strip of the patterned paper onto Pacific Point.  I love that I can quickly check my ideas catalogue to see the colours that go with my papers.  I punched out a Whisper White blossom using the Blossom Punch.  Then stamped one of the Mixed Bunch In Melon Mambo and punched that out too.  Curled and pinched the petals then added a large Basic Pearl to the centre.  For my sentiment I've mounted it onto a Decorative Label of Pacific Point.  I stamped my sentiment from Petite Pairs in Melon Mambo and punched out using the Large Oval.  A couple of pearls either side finishes it off.

Pastel Mixed Bunch

Hi there, glad you've dropped in! 

I got a pastel card for you today using the fabulous Mixed Bunch stamp set.  I think this one would also look fab embossed in black.  I've just stamped it directly onto Whisper White in Basic Black and coloured using my Stampin' Write Markers - Marina Mist and Pink Pirouette.   I drew a line with a Basic Black Stampin' Write Marker to create a stem.  I distressed the edges with my Craft Rubber Scissors, attached it to a Pink Pirouette mat and then onto the Marina Mist card base.  

The sentiment is from Sincere Salutations stamped in Marina Mist.  Should have been slightly over to the right but oh well!! 

I've dressed up my flowers with some Marina Mist ribbon and a Basic Rhinestone in the middle.

Pink, Girlie and Bling

My card today is for the Freshly Made Sketches challenge. 

I thought I'd use some bright colours and give you another sneak peak from the new catalogue.  This time using one of the stamps from Mixed Bunch.  I stamped it twice in Melon Mambo and punched it out using the co-ordinating Blossom Punch.  Another newbie from the mini catalogue.  I layered them up and curled the top layers petals.  I used another one of the stamps from the set and punched out a centre piece using the 1/2" Circle Punch. 

For the background panel I stamped a pattern in Basic Black onto Melon Mambo and then matted it onto Basic Black. 

I added a sentiment from Sincere Salutations in Melon Mambo and finished the card off with some Basic Rhinestones.
