Need for Speed at the Comfort Cafe

Speeding in with a card for my Brother in Law.  I went to Seize The Birthday for some inspiration from the masculine sketch.  See below for the sketch.

I've started with a Naturals Ivory card base.  The ribbon banner is Midnight Muse embossed with the Chevron Embossing Folder.  Then attached some DSP from Comfort Cafe and a strip of Summer Starfruit.  I die cut a Very Vanilla oval and stamped the car in Midnight Muse.  I also sponged the edges.  Then added a sentiment from For My Family and punched out with Word Window and Modern Label Punches.  The oval is popped up on some Dimensionals.

Chevrons, Flowers and Stampin' Up!'s Aviary Bird Cages

First of all, thank you for all the well wishes for Holly's Birthday.  She's had a super day so far and is currently playing with her new purchase - an i pad which if you read yesterday's post she did a grand job of saving up for herself.  Very easy for Dad and I to put too the difference and get a case for it.  

I've really been wanting to play along with the new challenge blog  Fusion.  You can see the details below.  So whilst dot was occupied with her new toy and number one son was ensconced on the x box I snuck away and made this card.

Whisper White card base with Whisper White panel attached with Dimensionals.  I've made my chevrons with the Chevron Embossing Folder and Certainly Celery card stock.  I corner rounded the edges.  I then stamped my bird cages from Aviary in Calypso Coral.  I stamped little flowers inside using Pretty in Pink, Melon Mambo and So saffron.  The little flower comes from Create a Cupcake.  So many useful small items in this set.  I then fussy cut out the cages and attached them with Dimensionals.  The sentiment in Calypso Coral comes from Petite Pairs.

I've picked up on the chevrons from the sketch and the colours and flowers from the inspiration photo.

As we had a big feed at an all you can restaurant at lunch time, I think it will just be cake for tea!  Mmmmm cake.  Not made by me this time as she wanted a Percy Pig cake, so M and S did the honours.

Girly Need for Speed

This card is for my daughter who will be 11 tomorrow.  I've hopefully combined her girly side and her tomboy side.  She's a bit wild when she gets on a quad and is very speedy but has also started to think a little more about fashion.  

I've started with Rose Red as the card base and added a layer of Whisper White.  I ran some Bashful Blue through the Cloudy Day Embossing Folder and added some Designer Series Paper - along the bottom.  The Rose Red Seam Binding brings in the pink from the card base.  I then cut a semi circle of Whisper White.  I stamped the quad bike from Need for Speed in Night of Navy and fussy cut out.  Then added this to the circle with Dimensionals.  I stamped the little sentiment below in Rose Red from Happiest Birthday Wishes (retired).  I then added "daughter" from For My Family in Rose Red and I punched it out with the Modern Label Punch.  A couple of Basic Rhinestones gives a little bling. 

So we've got lots planned for tomorrow - cards to open, lunch out in town, birthday cake later but no pressies to open.  Which feels a bit strange as she has asked for money to put to her savings.  It all feels a bit grown up!

Black and Lime and Bright Blossoms

Happy Sunday Folks.  A quick post today as we are out later on to Doonies Farm as a birthday treat to my daughter who will be 11 on Tuesday.  Hope the snow goes off.  Brrrr!! 

I've made my card for two challenges - Less is More which has a colour theme of Lime and Black.  Yummy combo!! and CASe This Sketch.

So here's the run down of how I've made this card.  The card base is Whisper White and I started by stamping the trellis from Summer Silhouettes in Basic Black.  I then made my little tag element using Basic Black card stock and Whisper White.  I punched the corners using a 1/2" Circle Punch.  I stamped some flowers from Bright Blossoms in Basic Black.  The vase was stamped on some scrap with Lucky Limeade and a Basic Black Stampin' Write Marker.  I matched it up with a flower head again using a Basic Black marker to add the black dot.  The vase was fussy cut out and popped up on some Dimensionals.  I made a sentiment banner using Lucky Limeade and Itty Bitty Banners. 

Love the way this has turned out with just the pop of colour.

Everything Eleanor and a Colour Refresh

Back again today with a birthday card for one of the Card Swap Ladies - Victoria.  As we didn't know it was her birthday this is going to arrive late.  It's also my turn to send a card to Victoria this month so you'll have another one coming from me soon, Victoria!

For my card I followed the colours at Colour Q and took inspiration from the Muse card this week.  You can see both below. 

I started with a Soft Suede background and added a strip of Whisper White stamped with the swirl from Everything Eleanor in Bashful Bride.  The main panel is Calypso Coral stamped with some of the flowers from the set.  A pop of Daffodil Delight for the centre punched out using the Boho Blossoms Punch.  I then punched the top panel with the Blossom Punch and attached this with some Dimensionals.  To finish I added a Basic Rhinestone to the middle of the flower and stamped a little bird in Soft Suede and fussy cut out.  

I hope you don't see it before it arrives Victoria but if you do at least today is your birthday! 

What's the Colour Refresh?  Well it's so exciting and I'm allowed to share it with you now.  Stampin' Up! are shaking up their colour palette with 10 new core colours!  Some of these are returning In Colours and some are brand new.  However it does mean that sadly we are losing 10 colours, so if any are your favourites, stock up now.  When they go, they go.  That includes not only the card stock and ink but ribbons, buttons etc. in those colours.  You can drop me a line and I'll make sure you don't miss out - ails300@btinternet.com

Also Stampin' Up! are discontinuing their Water colour crayons and pencils due to problems with their supplier.

Stampin' Up! Tea Shoppe

Happy Mid Week!  Got time for a visit and a cuppa?  I've made a relaxing cuppa card with Stampin' Up!'s Tea Shoppe.  So take your time and have a wander around.

Less is More this week is looking for scallops.  So here's what I came up with. 

For my card you may need to click on the picture to see all the details.  The base is Naturals White card stock and the top panel is Shimmery White card stock.  I've pierced the top panel using my Essentials Paper Piercing Pack along the bottom with my scallops.  I stamped the little cups in Wisteria Wonder, Lucky Limeade, and Elegant Eggplant.  Did you notice one of the little cups also has scallops?  The sentiment is from the same set stamped in the Lucky Limeade.  I've popped this panel up on some Dimensionals.

Happy Birthday Circle Circus

Belated Happy Easter.  Hope you haven't filled up on too many chocolate eggs.  I'm on a strict diet so no chocolate for me. :(

Moving quickly on, before I get cravings, my card today fits 3 challenges which I'll list at the end.  

Here's how I made it.  So Saffron card base with a mat of Basic Black and Primrose Petal.  I wasn't sure of the in colours when they came out.  They were a bit on the, well, bold side..... but now I love them.  I stamped Circle Circus in Primrose Petals and So Saffron.  Then added some Basic Pearls.  The sentiment is from For My Family and punched out with the Modern Label Punch and popped up on Dimensionals. 

I haven't adjusted to the clock change and keep thinking it's earlier than it is but here we are 6 o'clock and the tea isn't made.  Yikes!!
